Re: Disney's Christopher Robin

They're all more in line with how they are in A.A. Milne's original stories, though, so I was actually pretty fine with it. I even liked Garrett's "deeper" Eeyore more here than I did in 2011's Winnie the Pooh (dare I say it, Christopher Robin was actually a much better Pooh movie than tha...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

It's probably been discussed in this thread by now, but could mutants be brought into the MCU at this point outside of maybe the big ones like Wolverine? I mean, the whole concept of the X-Men is "they're persecuted because they're different." something that would be hard to do in the MCU ...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

Dark Phoenix looks pretty much like a remake of a storyline X-Men 3 already did, and it looks like it's more or less doing it in the exact same way , for a character audiences aren't nearly as invested in as they were for the original trilogy (she was only introduced in the last film in this case). ...

Except that it probably won't include a certain movie about a song that was sung in the south.

Re: Disney's Christopher Robin

John Carter got a fairly big push stateside, with Disney even giving it a Super Bowl TV spot. It just didn't necessarily get a good marketing campaign, as many people had no idea the film was even set on Mars. As for Nutcracker, if you enjoyed Burton's Alice, you'll probably like it. Keira Knightley...

Re: Disney's Christopher Robin

The movie's been out on disc for a while, but giving this film a viewing at my house tonight, and I discovered there's a Richard Sherman cameo during the end credits. Not only that, but the credits have two original songs by him, and he performs both! It didn't get much press at the time of the film...

Re: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

I loved the movie, as Rand and Dan already know from Facebook. But was it just me, or was F. Murray Abraham channeling Bela Lugosi for the villain's voice? The character even kinda looked like Lugosi, so I'm going to assume it was done on purpose? Also, there's a brand new DreamWorks Animation logo ...

Re: Oscar Contest 2019 - 15th Anniversary!

11? Huh. This was one of my worst years ever, score wise. My original pick for BP was actually Green Book, but then that movie got some negative press for whatever reason (even though, as far as I can tell as someone who hasn't seen it, it looks like a good film), so I went "What the heck? Waka...

Re: Oscar Contest 2019 - 15th Anniversary!

Ballot submitted! And I've actually seen all four versions, having seen the first three films years ago. The Garland version is heartbreaking, of course, though sadly the so-called "original version" is apparently lost as it was shortened by a studio that was concerned over it being overly...

Re: Oscar Contest 2019 - 15th Anniversary!

Of the Best Picture nominations I've seen, A Star is Born is the one I loved the most. Profoundly moving and raw, but it's looking like its award chances have slimmed over the past few weeks.

Still, fingers crossed. Who knows? My votes might just improve its chances. ;)

Almost no frontrunners this year, so this is going to take a lot of guessing!

Re: Disney's Frozen

I liked that bit. Stuff like that works great for teaser trailers (kinda like the toddler Moana clip that was used for an early preview for that film). Heck, I actually would've been cool if they had done a whole preview that way (but I also like that they apparently haven't shown the whole scene he...
