Re: Monchhichi Returns in New Show on Boomerang Streaming

Seems to be a foreign CGI series, not the H-B version.

Which...ALSO explains a lot. Why it's on streaming, for one.

Re: Most Underrated Disney Character?

I changed "the Sourceror" [sic] to his real name, Yensid. I guess he’s so overlooked that some people didn’t even realise he has a name...and a cool one at that! So I voted for him, anyhoo. :) ...Oh, you're the other one! :D But yes: The guy with the Walt Disney eyebrows. Even Penn & ...

Re: Mattel starts Mettel Films Movie Studio

They already had a direct-video division for Barbie, Hot Wheels and Monster High-- Just that now that the industry is still stuck in 2013 mode and thinks "disks are dead", they haven't had any place to SHOW direct-video animateds, apart from sticking the latest Barbie video in on Fathom sc...

However, just thought I should comment on the fact that he only describes its financial performance and mentions nothing on its storyline/creative qualities, other than to say that it got: “rave reviews.” It's Forbes, so I don't think he noticed anything else, and he's a mainstream grownup fan, so ...

Re: A Wizard's Tale (Here Comes The Grump)

I THOUGHT it looked familiar, until they blurted out the money-title...I also thought I was the only one who remembered that show. Although all I remembered from it was DePatie-Freleng trying to stretch an entire series out of Yosemite Sam's "Never stop quickly on a dragon" gag from "...

Re: DC comics streaming service to start September 15

And this, ultimately, is why online/streaming sucks. You don’t own anything, not even the right to access what you signed up for. Same with these new services, which will no doubt "retire" certain titles as and when they have new promotions, or possibly even remove them completely for wha...

Re: Animated Views 2018 Revamp

And let's be honest: Isn't this revamp a new time to bring the "Blog" (or at least Articles With Comments) question back for the main site?
It's a nice forum, but it's the six of us. We're the Cheers bar.

Re: New Disney Streaming Service (Disney Play)

Rip off, rip off, and more rip off. I don’t care if it costs less than Netflix. It’s still another subscription to have to pay for... (Let's settle in, folks, we'll hear a lot of that, from a lot of people, verbatim. We're already hearing it from the Star Trek fans who don't want to subscribe...

Re: Netflix "trying out" commercials in front of shows

The story I heard was pretty much the way NYT said it in the first place: "Netflix Tests Promotional Videos but Users See ‘Commercials’" In fact, the NBC2 article didn't say Netflix was "backing down", it said they were "setting the (original) story straight" after it h...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

Again, that's (ABC's?) problem of using the P-word to "solve the TV problem", rather than use the Wide/Independent distinction to say what's an Infinity War and what's a Three Billboards. Or why "The Walk" could be a big-studio wide-release independent movie that wasn't Popular. ...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

If it is honestly about wanting to cut time etc, they need to do what I regularly suggest. You present the awards. The only 'entertainment' is the nominated songs get performed and have an In Memoriam. Scrap all the silly tributes and montages. They tried to do just that on Jon Stewart's second hos...

It’s Paramount, not Panasonic (which *does* get affectionately known as Panny in certain tech circles)! :)

Haven't heard anyone gripe about "Panny" since Avatar was taken "hostage" during the Blu-ray 3D days!

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

Wrote a good reply here and analysis on this new "Popular Oscar", already being derogatorily referred to as the Popcorn Oscar, but my pad gave up its battery before I could hit post and I lost it. Oh well, not going through that again. Back in 1929, the first Oscars had the idea of separa...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

But hey, that way the media might have actually been comparing Inside Out with Room! News flash: The media WAS. And Inside Out was winning . Back in '15, the Academy was all set to finally reduce the nominees to five, until after May, and then...er, let's keep the Animated Best Picture vote in one ...
