Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

At least we still have the DC TV shows. So with whatever good reviews it gets comparing it to the Justice League cartoon, we're back to "DC Animation gets it because the print-comic people are in charge, the live-action movies don't." A compliment often given to Warner/DC's you-know-who r...

Re: Gigantic

I thought the heroine was kind of cute, too, and was looking forward to it as much as Ralph 2. :) The faux-Flynn hero, and the implicit relationship undertones, not so much. Looking back at the first-announcement posts from '15, I'd thought it was a mutation of whatever happened to that announced pr...

Re: Spies in Disguise

According to Variety, Fox wants to "strengthen their animation division at the studio, and set BlueSky in motion to direct a new film every year, with several projects already in the works..." ...Oh, DO they? Think Ferdinand has a little something to say about that first. ;) (And ever sinc...

Re: Peter Rabbit (2018)

Wait, Paddingdon was "snarky"? Did I see a different movie or something? ;) "Dismissively self-aware quirky", then, from British writers who wanted to distance themselves from "kiddy tea-time", and "apologize" to the grownup parents in the theater by playing ...

Re: Peter Rabbit (2018)

The trailer for the new Peter Rabbit movie is so bad it defies comprehension. What in the name of God is this garbage??? If it was British, it would be as snarkily "clever" about dismissing its material* as Paddington-- But no, this is Sony in the good ol' USA, who discovered in the 10's ...

Re: Ferdinand

- You totally didn't get my reference in saying you don't have a child. No, I thought you were going for the easy "It's going to be a hit anyway, because it'll be a nostalgic lovefest for parents and children rushing to the theater to enjoy favorite book storytime!" When that was exactly ...

Re: Ferdinand

It's also why we got Ant Bully and Polar Express, when the producer couldn't get Maurice Sendak. I get so lost when reading your posts sometimes. :? Back in the early days of weird Robert Zemeckis CGI experiments, producer Tom Hanks originally wanted to produce "Where the Wild Things Are"...

Re: Ferdinand

If anything the more I see of this the closer in feel to Walt's 1938 take it seems, which is why the initial trailer surprised me in being contemporary set. It's like they can't outwardly say this is a new version of the short, but subconsciously the posters invoke that connection without being abl...

Re: Ferdinand

They're certainly trying to look "artistic", either retro-book for parents who want to show their kids, or More Spanish Than Coco, for theater competition...
Just too bad that the trailers make the movie itself look six years out of date, and BlueSky generic-as-hell.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I also remember not seeing this since TV, and don't remember what exactly of the Extended TV Cut we DIDN'T get in the first default 2-1/2 hr. Blu-ray "Superman: Special Edition" from '08 that's also now co-packaged with it. That version also put back in more of the Krypton scenes, longer d...

Netflix? Why not, that's where every OTHER foreign CGI movie shows up, might as well cut out the middleman.

Think they're making 'LEGO' look bigger than the possibility of billing "A new Lego movie, without Batman in it!"
And now, Warner is going to find out what fueled the Lego Movie franchise to begin with...

Re: The Star

I know the joke you wanted to go for, I...don't? :? Well, neither do I: As noted, freakishly-grinning "Nightmare fuel" characters on third-party animation posters is......nothing NEW , but I've seen a lot freakier at other studios. Maybe I just like horses, or the old 90's ex-Disney After...

Re: The Star

It's her eyes. Or her smile. Or...something. Having already seen every nightmare-fodder character Dreamworks pumps out (ahh, Boss Baby! Take him away, take him away! ), thought Sony's horse is actually...kind of cute, in a Spirit: the Series sorta way. Which the movie will probably ruin onc...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

I'm...lost? :? Evidently some folks here don't have the historic grudge against Warner's home-video neuroses that, ahem, SOME here have-- Let's take it a step at a time for the naives and noobs: 1) Warner has always had a bit of a trauma-bug that makes them whimper and crawl into a fetal pos...
