We could have had a decent, sensible, coherent, OT-pedigreed Lawrence Kasdan-written Last Jedi if it hadn't been for THIS movie. :(

Re: TVShowsonDVD no more?!?

Though exciting new releases were becoming fewer as the format matured (Batman '66 finally coming out certainly made any further collecting less exciting), TSOD was still a great resource that I visited almost daily. The site shall be missed. In the old days, any classic series coming to DVD was bi...

Re: A Quiet Place

Although I sort of have mixed feelings towards M. Knight Shyamalan now, I can’t help but feel this was sort of like one of his films, but without the bad dialogue, hystrionics, and that oft-used logic-free twist ending. And his need to build screenplays like blueprints, saying " This scene exp...

Re: Avengers and the MCU

Finally got around to Marvel & the Deathly Hallows, Pt. 1, and for all the talk of "Marvel's plans for Phase 4", I get the distinct feeling of a studio franchise setting its affairs in order. They did everything but throw Dumbledore off the parapets--Oh, wait, maybe they did , counting...

Re: Avengers, Justice League and more in READY PLAYER ONE!

As Eric says, Spielberg did ask Wilder to play the role as a last hurrah, but it wasn’t his death that prevented it — he’d already declined due to his Alzheimer’s long before he died (and eloquently explained why, even if he was complimentary about Spielberg while admitting to not liking these kind...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

(I realize that the cartoon adapted AOA into a two-parter called “One Man’s Worth”, an ok story but no standout as far as the usually high-quality animated series was concerned. Of course the TV show was very adept at adapting sprawling comic storylines, but with an epic like AOA, it’s pretty much ...

Spielberg DID reportedly want to cast Gene Wilder as old Halliday, for the very obvious reasons, but fate sadly intervened. :(

Re: Toy Story 4

But seriously, Eric, might be time to take a chill pill. (Yes, but by now, I can be excused for not being the only one on the board driven past the edge of saying "Vi, Katzenberg is retired and Dreamworks is OUT OF F***IN' BUSINESS , just buy Dragons on Blu-ray, be done with it, and stop tryin...

Re: Toy Story 4

...Do you have some central point to make besides the obvious Draggie-girl "Nobody should EVER fire Saint Christopher!", and digging up the Taggie-spinners from '06 to "prove" it? My favorite Lasseter quote also came from Steve Hulett via the Blog, around the early studio work fo...

Re: Toy Story 4

despite all the executive interference, Chicken Little was as well. (At least financially.). But not critically--hoo boy, was it ever not--which put blame for which head to roll first in one very quick, convenient and easy-to-reach spot...And the second was even easier. Eisner had given Dindal the ...

Re: Toy Story 4

That makes it sound as though JL was making enemies from the beginning. Which in a way I suppose he was. There was some talk of people being "frustrated" over JL trying to take over Meet the Robinsons when it was nearly finished, but those were rumors that I don't think were ever verified...

Re: Toy Story 4

Not to bring up the extremely old Chris Sanders/American Dog issue, but AD being altered by Lassetter after firing Sanders because AD was a “bad” movie was somewhat ridiculous in my opinion. I know I wasn’t there and never saw Sanders’ work in progress , What, really? http://jimhillmedia.com/editor...

Re: Condorito & other miscellaneous animated fare

Nope, never had LD, just the 20th Anniversary DVD, which was the first time I ever realized they'd done that animated Boston "Evening at Pops" opening before moving out west. Saw that opening a hundred times, growing up, and now can't even find a decent YouTube of it. :x (Spot How EricJ is...

Actually, that's the Lisberger Studios logo, which became their famous Boston radio commercial--If you lived in New England in the late 70's, you'd know that. 8)

Re: Condorito & other miscellaneous animated fare

But director Steve Lisberger got enough attention from Disney to go on to bigger projects...Some 80's video-game thingy his studio was pitching, wasn't it? ;)
