Anyone (like, opportunistically culture-parasiting singers with little guy-eyes and big guy-shoulders) who think it began with a 70's Barbara Streisand movie about rock singers, needs to. ALSO desperately.

Re: Abrams Live action remake of "Your Name"

In this reimagined version, a young Native American woman living in a rural area and a young man from Chicago

...OHHHhhh! I WONDERED how an American version was going to handle the Japanese movie's plot revolving around an ancient rural shrine.

Re: Disney's Frozen

Was it me or did they have her running into the ocean at least one or two too many times. It got repetitive and verged on boring, without her really developing in those moments. Disney only teases their movies with ONE big money-gag they're proud of (remember Baymax and the soccer ball, Ralph and t...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

As an editor myself, I’m appalled. The two most important people to a director on a movie are the cinematographer during production and the editor in post. And they cut BOTH those awards...!!?? Not to mention, Editing, Orig/Adap Screenplay, Cinematography and Score are the four "Betting Pool&q...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

And apparently they decided that EDITING and CINEMATOGRAPHY were the "expendable" awards-- Because, y'see, if they cut Sound Editing and Mixing, everyone would be crying "Chris Rock sez, stay in your seats!" again, and they don't want any hint that they've gone back to those TV-p...

Re: Into the Spider-Verse

I can't believe no one started this thread yet...! And this is the most progressive (art-wise) major animated film of the year! And, overall, the best. I will gag if Incredibles 2 wins. If Incredibles 2 wins because the voters "didn't have time to see kiddy films" or even go to Ralph Brea...

Re: The John Lasseter saga

We only had one genuine Lasseter-led project in the first few years of Disney's 00's Renaissance, but the '11 "Winnie the Pooh" probably wouldn't have caught fire, Harry Potter or not. You’re still forgetting that Princess And The Frog was not a rescue job...that was the first "Lasse...

Oh, thanks--FIVE stalled Stainton projects that Lasseter had to salvage, silly me.

Re: The John Lasseter saga

It’s certainly a come-down for him, though, what with now working on two ex-DreamWorks directors' projects already instigated by the previous head that he’ll have to basically have minimal input over (though he’ll take Exec Prod credit as per usual), so it’ll be a while before we see any really new...

Re: The John Lasseter saga

I don't think Skydance actually has an animation studio. I believe they outsource the actual animation. Is that going to change I wonder? Seems like Lasseter is the type of guy to want that in-house. Is this the same Skydance that hired Brad Bird to direct one of their Tom Cruise Mission:Impossible...

....what? :? You're telling me you don't remember three solid years of THIS?? Yes, CN had its little tantrum, and got all the bad old reruns off its network, now it's time to repair the cultural damage it inflicted on an entire generation of cartoon watchers that grew up believing that the ...

You're welcome... (Yes, I hate Warner/DC too, but has Cartoon Network's pathological loathing of Hanna-Barbera so psychologically indoctrinated an early-00's generation to consider Aquaman a crime against humanity, by mandatory law? You've got Aquaman jokes coming from people too young to have ever...

Re: Abrams Live action remake of "Your Name"

Just got the Blu-ray, after hearing all the hype. Lord knows when I'll get around to watching it... The original? It's..... okay , but seems to have done most of its business on the fact that most adult mainstream Japanese don't want to be seen watching anime series (that's for nasty otaku , who si...
