Re: New Popular Film Oscar

I like that idea it sounds like a better way to get the Best Picture nominations. But after a quick play around at Box Office Mojo, I do think some of the blame for the disconnect between publics and the awards, is that the public just doesn't show up to non flashy films like they use to. For exampl...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

I can see what the Academy is trying to do, but I just think it comes across as ridiculous. I don't really know when exactly the Academy became allergic to nominating popular stuff for Best Picture, but they need to go back to it (Quick look on Wikipedia makes me think it was 2003 when Return of the...

Interesting that My Little Pony wasn't submitted for consideration or Ballerina (Leap!). The latter may be due to the Weinstein saga though.

Re: UPDATED! AV Countdown for iPhone, Windows Phone, and Android

Okay, how the heck did Leonardo-wings suddenly get into "Leap"? This's gettin' weird, even for a foreign title. :? Cause that actually happens in the movie. It's a key part of the character's story. The movie is quite good, caught it on DVD a couple of weeks ago. Yes you now how it is goi...

Re: Fern Gully at 25!

Thank you so much for sharing. I remember when FernGully was released I was hooked. A lot of the appeal for me at the time was being an Aussie kid it was exciting to have an animated movie set in Australia (at this time I was unaware of Rescuers Down Under) created by 'Hollywood'. I actually use the...

Re: Will Disney buy DWA? No! Universal did!

For me Spirit is my least favourite DreamWorks movie. I saw it in the cinema, and half way through something happened with the projector. And I didn't care that there was a delay. And to this day I have not managed to watch it from beginning to end without falling asleep or giving up and stopping it...

Re: Will Disney buy DWA? No! Universal did!

We may see El Dorado, Bee Movie and SharkTale updates brought back any minute. I honestly wouldn't mind an El Dorado update. Even a transition to Broadway would suffice me. As much as I love El Dorado, the biggest mistake they made was not going full musical with it. All the songs would have worked...

Re: Will Disney buy DWA? No! Universal did!

I couldn't even finish watching the trailer the animation was that bad. And I have watched a lot of 'dodgy' animation cause of my Godson. If I didn't see the DreamWorks logo in front of it, I would have thought it was a knock off Spirit. It s crazy to think the same studio who is making the Dragon T...

Re: Coco

As someone said somewhere else on the net, no one complains when Christmas movies look alike because they have iconic images that need to be used. Just like this holiday has images that need to be used so you know it is that holiday that is the backbone of the movie. So of course they will look alik...

Re: Interview with Linda Woolverton about writing Beauty and the Beast

In that interview, Linda said that quote in response to the Stockholm Syndrome suggestion of the plot. She was arguing for it to be Stockholm, Belle needs to change to suit the captor. And she feels she didn't write that, she wrote that The Beast also changed therefore it is not Stockholm Syndrome. ...
