Re: Oscar Contest 2019 - 15th Anniversary!

Picking who I want to win never works out. I knew I had no chance in winning this year. At. All. Haha

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

So with the news item that Bette Midler will be performing the Mary Poppins Returns song at the awards ceremony, I discovered that originally they announced that only A Star Is Born and Black Panther would see their songs performed on the night. Wow this year's ceremony was really is trying to tap i...

Re: Oscar Contest 2019 - 15th Anniversary!

For the past few years I've been boring and just picked the winners from each Guild. This year I'm throwing caution to the wind and just gonna vote for my actual favourite (or who I want to win) in each category. It's not like the guilds have ever helped me win, so why not just go with potluck

Re: Disney's Frozen

Look I llike the animation, but I'm just not feeling it. Maybe if I hadn't been subjected to all those shorts and mini movies I'd be more excited. And I know it's just a teaser but I have no idea what's going on. Maybe they have to meet Pocahontas?

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

I still maintain that the only 'entertainment' required at this thing are the Nominated songs and the In Memorian segment. Cut out all the stupid tributes to genres, or whatever the latest gimmick is. And you know cutting back the Best Picture nominees to 5 would also save some minutes from the broa...

Re: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

For whatever crazy reason (school holidays), this movie opened in Australia yesterday early a month and a half ahead of the US release. SO naturally I made an effort to see the very first showing at my local cinema, cause I never have the chance to be the first to see a movie. I won't spoil anything...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

I like that idea it sounds like a better way to get the Best Picture nominations. But after a quick play around at Box Office Mojo, I do think some of the blame for the disconnect between publics and the awards, is that the public just doesn't show up to non flashy films like they use to. For exampl...

Re: New Popular Film Oscar

I can see what the Academy is trying to do, but I just think it comes across as ridiculous. I don't really know when exactly the Academy became allergic to nominating popular stuff for Best Picture, but they need to go back to it (Quick look on Wikipedia makes me think it was 2003 when Return of the...

Interesting that My Little Pony wasn't submitted for consideration or Ballerina (Leap!). The latter may be due to the Weinstein saga though.

Re: UPDATED! AV Countdown for iPhone, Windows Phone, and Android

Okay, how the heck did Leonardo-wings suddenly get into "Leap"? This's gettin' weird, even for a foreign title. :? Cause that actually happens in the movie. It's a key part of the character's story. The movie is quite good, caught it on DVD a couple of weeks ago. Yes you now how it is goi...

Re: Fern Gully at 25!

Thank you so much for sharing. I remember when FernGully was released I was hooked. A lot of the appeal for me at the time was being an Aussie kid it was exciting to have an animated movie set in Australia (at this time I was unaware of Rescuers Down Under) created by 'Hollywood'. I actually use the...
