Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

I read Screen Rant's take on it, and couldn't disagree more. How many of today's kids even know the term "Jim Crow?" (Plus, who says that all of Disney+'s content has to be only for kids anyway??) Losing that scene would totally hurt the film, and there is no good reason for it. It is so ridiculous ...

Re: Interesting essay on The Force Awakens

The problem with TFA is the same as TLJ, which will be the same problem with RIS. There is no planning for these films, and the writing is rushed, rushed, rushed. Disney is destroying the franchise in their rush to profit from it. TFA should have been delayed for 2 more years in order for the franch...

Re: Missing Link, Laika's new adventure

I love Laika, and look forward to the film, though the trailers failed to excite me. I'm sure it's "good," but don't see it being "great."

Re: The Lion King Remake

They've really missed the boat here. Unless--- they wanted to put out another animated film using the same shots as the original, but remove all of the magic of the first by turning it into something that looks more like a bland nature documentary, using bored actors doing uninspired voiceovers. The...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

And now it looks like the (almost) compete series set is coming out on not just DVD but Blu-ray too! Nice. I may have to get that. There's maybe not much to be gained in HD, but I'll look forward to the reviews. It would be nice if a screener comes available.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

I don't see the MCU winding down anytime soon. Fiege and the gang have it covered. It shall continue to be awesome for a long time. And if it does start to run out of steam.... BAM! They release the best darn FF movie we could hope for. Mark my words. :) It is nice that Disney has it all under one r...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

I'm quite happy to give X-Men a rest. I'm much more interested in the FF joining the MCU, as the FF were usually more a part of the Marvel U than the X-titles, which had their own storylines. I really want to see Spidey and Johnny Storm hang out on screen. In fact, I could see a Spidey film introduc...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

I'm really excited to get those Scooby episodes. They're a long time coming. It'll be great seeing Scoob and the gang team up with the Pussycats, Jeannie, etc. :) Unfortunately, one episode could not be cleared. The Addams Family team-up is missing, even though the AF cartoon is out on DVD from Warn...

Re: Tim Burton's Dumbo

"Trunk-ated." Good one. :)

I get the same vibe from the trailers--- there's magic to be had, but you kind of expect it to fall a little short. Still, I look forward to seeing it. The fact that it's more a re-imagining makes me look forward to Dumbo more than Aladdin or TLK.

Jetsons too, now? Plus Jonny Quest, as announced earlier. That's pretty nice.

Re: The Twilight Zone

Yeah, the first season of 1980s TZ was actually quite good, if uneven, adapting several great stories by celebrated speculative fiction authors including Arthur C Clarke. Harlan Ellison even worked on the show, and had a few stories adapted. The wheels began to fall off the cart in the second season...
