Re: The DOCTOR WHO Thread

Amazon.ca was having Doctor Who DVD sales a few years ago, just when I was getting into the franchise (finally). I grabbed loads of them when they could be had relatively cheaply, and now I have a DVD case full of classic Who, containing most of the available stories. I'm glad I got them (including ...

Re: J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek"

I had just woken up. Though, part of me knew that something was off!

Re: J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek"

Yeah, it's either they get Pine or forget the whole thing. Poor form on Panny's part.

Re: The DOCTOR WHO Thread

I would enjoy reading these, though that applies to many shelves of books already at my house!

For online book sales, one must look at bookfinder.com. They list books from multiple online sellers. I found the rare Doctor Who Companion there (another Who must! ).

Re: Superman Actress Margot Kidder Passes Away

Aw, that's sad. We all knew of her mental health issues, but it's tragic that they took her down this road.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I like Levi, but the costume is too poofy-- like a kid's idea of anatomy, though maybe that is intentional? Maybe? The light-up insignia does not work for me, either, and the dialog and direction are too goofy. I do hope this film can win me over, but I am skeptical. I am on vacation, so I am only v...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I really liked the Aquaman trailer. Too bad it treads on similar Shakespearean ground as BP, but them's the breaks. The water setting, at least, is relatively fresh. Shazam... hoo boy. I wish I could be more enthusiastic. The true, original Captain Marvel was not a "Big" story at all, and ...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

I have seen a number of 2SD cartoons, since they appeared as a bonus on so many H-B tapes back then. I found them okay, but now in retrospect I can appreciate them more for the reasons you mentioned.

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

Not to mention Fraggle Rock proper to Blu-ray! Though, as it was done on video, it remains to see how it will come out in HD.

Not sure if I need 2SD, but I'm curious about the new SS, which I never saw.

Re: Avengers and the MCU

Those tweets are such old news. Disney/Marvel knew what they were getting with Gunn. I kind of understand their decision, given how they canned Roseanne, and maybe don't want to look two-faced, but... I wish they'd kept Gunn, who has acknowledged and apologized for the remarks made a while ago.

Re: Criterion Collection

TT has several Sony/Columbia titles coming out now and in the near future: Genghis Khan, New Centurians, Auto Focus... Naturally, the original list they were working from will have a dwindling number of titles, but they're still in the Sony business. TT has said, though, that they will do no more re...

Re: Criterion Collection

Still.. I might be tempted to pick up PB anyhow, as it does look like a nice edition. But the real prize of that month is Ashby's Shampoo, which I've been curious to see for a while. I just picked up the Arrow edition of Sisters, but might be tempted by Criterion's alternate bonus features. Though, ...

Re: Criterion Collection

PB has been re-released so often, with the same plentiful bonus features all the time, that I can't believe that Criterion is bothering with it. It's a head-scratcher. I guess fans will enjoy seeing it get the CC treatment, but it's really not necessary. There's only access to public domain or MGM/U...
