You know very well I meant that the property had waited 100 years for a film adaptation.

Me, I hadn't read the book until a couple of years before the film was released.

Re: Disney's Christopher Robin

John Carter got a fairly big push stateside, with Disney even giving it a Super Bowl TV spot. It just didn't necessarily get a good marketing campaign, as many people had no idea the film was even set on Mars. Okay, so it got some push. But yeah, the marketing was just utterly inept. Just tragic, a...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

Yeah, I don't see any correlation either. Captain Marvel, anyhow, is a popular hit, so I don't see any "stink" at all. Don't worry, Marvel has this. And Disney knows enough to leave them relatively alone. Feige has plenty of classic Marvel tales he can go to for inspiration, and he's done ...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

The X-Men comics take place in the same continuity as Avengers, etc. so I don't see a problem. The whole "they're different!" thing would possibly have to be de-emphasized some, but being born a mutant is still a different flavour than having accident-induced or created powers. Besides, I'...

Maybe. I'm torn. Haven't you seen Lion King already?

Agreed. The Lion King stage show is inspired and worthwhile. (I've only seen the stripped-down Disney Parks version, but would love to see the full show sometime.)

Re: Article on all the Disney live action remakes of animated classics

No-win? Yes, probably, in terms of failing to gain mass acceptance. But I give them a win for Burton's Dumbo already, based on the trailers. I've got a good feeling about that one; it has potential to be one of his better films, mixing the odd with some real emotion. I missed the mice in the Cindere...

Re: Avengers and the MCU

Just saw this too. YAY!!!!!! Kinda a brave decision on Disney's part--- reversing course, plus standing up to Net trolls--- but a welcome and correct one. I agree with Alan Horn: Gunn gave a humble and contrite, not to mention exceedingly classy response to getting fired. And the films speak for the...

Re: Article on all the Disney live action remakes of animated classics

If I disagree at all, it's only because I think you're forgetting to mention the hundreds of other people credited in the original. I'm not sure if it's disrespectful exactly (I mean, Robin and Howard and everyone else did their work over 25 years ago now), but it sure is... what's the word? Commerc...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

I'd be astonished if SOTS showed up on their streaming service, at least without a very cautious home video release first. And in today's climate, it seems unlikely that Disney would be wanting to stir that particular pot.

Re: Disney's Christopher Robin

Hey, so you did like it! I'm glad. I knew you'd all appreciate the Sherman appearance at the end, which quite tickled me as well. I made the same exclamation when watching it at home with my family. It was a sweet film, even if the "final solution" of giving everyone vacations doesn't hold...
