Re: Official Star Wars Thread

My son and I have tix for Saturday morning, which was the only time I could squeeze in a theatre visit this weekend. A morning matinee! That feels special unto itself.

Reviews have been very encouraging, and I'm getting more excited to see it every day. Dan went tonight. How'd that go, Dan?

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Depending who you believe, there may be up to 3 Harley films in development, though one of those might be Suicide Squad 2. Yeah, it feels like Warner is busy counting their pre-hatchling chickens again. Of course, all studios have multiple films in development, but Warner needs to slow down on the p...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

The absence of Harley Quinn alone makes the list seem wonky. As the artic le states, there are others that are known to be getting developed that aren't on that list. One not mentioned is Man of Steel 2, which sounds like will happen. I hope.

Re: Coco

Of course, the article you cited clearly states that the Olaf film was always planned as a limited engagement, and was scheduled to end in two weeks anyway. What you stated doesn't contradict that, but your post leaves the wrong impression. Olaf may have been unpopular, but he wasn't "pulled&qu...

Re: Coco

Coco has so little competition this year, that it should be a lock for BAF. (Not to say that some of the smaller films might not be even better, but they realistically probably don't have a chance.) I don't see that huge of a backlash against JL (yes, I caught the reference right away ;) ), and in f...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Saw it tonight. I make no apologies for this... I loved it. Forget your feelings abut Batman V Superman. Forget the production stories, and the two directors. Forget about the box office projections. And for gosh sake, forget about the critics, who have been lying in wait, ready to hammer this film....

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

And the RT score is... 40. No surprise. This film was never going to get too many good reviews. Everyone agrees it's better than BvS and SS, though, and that'll have to be good enough. I found things to like in those strongly flawed films, and I will bend over backwards to enjoy this one, too. ;) At...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

On the other hand, many early tweets from critics have suggested it's a good, but not great, film, with good characters, lots of humor, big action, and fun for DC fans.

Re: 2017 Best Animated Feature

Though I haven't seen many of these (and some have yet to even be released in North Am), I would think that Coco has to be the favourite.

A few of these, particularly the foreign films, may prove to be better, but Pixar likely has a lock on this.

Re: Official Star Wars Thread

I'm betting (strongly) that "Solo's Game" was dropped due to the similarity to "Ender's Game"--- especially considering that Ford was in that film adaptation too! But it would have been a great title, for sure.

Dude, I read it before posting here. I did know we shared some of the same sentiment. That's why I bought it in the first place. :)

Re: Sing

73% now on Rotten Tomatoes, for what it's worth. Their consensus sounds fair enough: Sing delivers colorfully animated, cheerfully undemanding entertainment with a solid voice cast and a warm-hearted -- albeit familiar -- storyline that lives up to its title. Again, I came at it with pretty low expe...

Re: Sing

Based on Ben's recommend, I looked into this film, which I was initially wary of. It looked too... "DreamWorks finale," as Eric and others have noted. Amazon's recent blow-out one-day sale of the 3D version got me to bite. And... wow. Where did THAT come from?! Based on the enjoyable but s...
