Re: The New DVD and Blu Thread

DVD-Rs, though, as a WA release. Too bad, but one takes what one can get. I still pick up the occasional Warner Archive DVD-R myself.

Re: WB Archive Collection: Discs On Demand!

Dying? Maybe. But far from dead. I see articles like this all the time nowadays. The hobby is thriving in lots of ways, with more releases than ever, from lots of both studios and boutique labels. They just don't sell in the millions anymore. But all those boutique labels do great at exploiting the ...

Re: WB Archive Collection: Discs On Demand!

Right, no "A" for Cabin. I just really like it. Interesting for being an early all-black mudical, sexy Lena Horne, great cast, great music, and I always am intrigued by afterlife morality plays.

Re: WB Archive Collection: Discs On Demand!

Same: The Broadway Melody; Cats Don’t Dance (at last!); The Devil Doll; DuBarry Was A Lady; Gay Purr-ee; Tarzan The Ape Man Different: A Cabin in the Sky (so happy!); Isle of the Dead (how did I hold out so long?); Rancho Notorious; The Adventures of Don Juan; The Land of the Pharaohs; The Prince an...

Re: D23 2024 - The Ultimate Disney Fan Event

One thing that occurred to me is that, given that the biggest presentations will now be evening shows at the arena, that opens up things quite a bit during the day in terms of programming. And--- that one hall at the convention center, which holds thousands of people, could conceivably now be free t...

Re: D23 2024 - The Ultimate Disney Fan Event

Another issue was that the buying process was so glitchy. Some folks got to the front of the line, and were booted out again, starting over with a long wait - many never getting back in before sales closed for the day (tickets were only sold for, what, 3.5 hours? - good thing I didn't wait until ton...

Re: D23 2024 - The Ultimate Disney Fan Event

I got my 3-day D23 tickets today. Whew. It wasn't easy. And I'm a little bummed that I couldn't secure tickets for the Honda Center evening presentations (e.g. film previews, Disney Legends), especially after getting my wife excited at the possibility of attending. I had hoped that the larger venue ...

Re: Rom the spaceknight returns to Marvel!

Yes, Jack Kirby adapted the movie 2001 for Marvel in an oversized tabloid edition (I have it, and it's pretty cool), then he followed up with a ten-issue comic book series (which I'd like to track down). Machine Man was intro'd in that series. https://www.comics.org/series/2342/covers/ With just the...

Re: WB Archive Collection: Discs On Demand!

This was my planned splurge for the spring, so I did a big order, too. It was actually 18 titles for me, which was about half my wish list. That got me Cats and Purr-Ee (Rover will have to wait), and a couple each for Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Errol Flynn, and Lucille Ball; and Fritz Lang's wester...

Re: WB Archive Collection: Discs On Demand!

Dang. I must have not hit "Submit" when I shared the announcement news yesterday. https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=34218 Yeah, good news on Zombie Island. I'm just as happy about the Karloff Fu Manchu. Plus, two early ones from Coppola, and classic Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn. Pretty strong month...

Re: Ghostbusters — OFFICIAL THREAD

Too bad. The trailer looked promising.

I still haven't seen Afterlife yet. Can't muster the enthusiasm. One YouTuber I watched last night (Jeremy Jahns) said the sequel should have been called Afterthought.

Grabbed a Luca cap to go with my Soul cap. Maybe my son and I can wear them at D23. :)

Re: D23 2024 - The Ultimate Disney Fan Event

Yes, the "Disney" part has lost all meaning, but it's still a neat group of people and makes for a nice tribute nonetheless.
