Re: The John Lasseter saga

Right, not just for his creative contribution but also for the publicity. And though reaction has not been positive, the old saying goes that "no publicity is bad publicity." Skydance has automatically made a name for itself. And if they fire him later, that's just more news for the gossip...

Re: The John Lasseter saga

Not sure what to think of this. On the one hand, I'm very curious to see, creatively, what comes of this venture. But on the other hand... I'm not too happy about him being given a new boss position.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

It was reported a while back that a new Superman film was being put aside in favour of Supergirl. And Joss Whedon famously left the Batgirl project. Only Zatanna is news. But yeah, it looks like Wonder Woman's success has had an impact! Add in Birds of Prey, and it looks like a (largely) female dire...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

Well, Netflix appeared to cancel it, not Disney. Disagreements between the two on budget and season length seem to have played a role, so one could argue that Disney wanted the cancellation. Disney HAS said they have further plans for Daredevil, so we'll see what develops. Disney owns the Netflix sh...

Re: Article on all the Disney live action remakes of animated classics

I favour reinterpretations, like Alice, which bore new real semblance to the animated film. And though it could be argued to be a sequel, it's really of a totally different sensibility. Which is a good thing. But straight remakes, like Beauty and the Beast, and like what Lion King looks like so far,...

Re: Stephen Hillenburg passes away

I hadn't heard about his ALS diagnosis, so I was shocked to hear of his passing. What a shame. But it's great that he saw so much success in his shortened life. His work will live on for a long time.

Re: Article on all the Disney live action remakes of animated classics

Lion King in particular feels extraneous. But, it's just the trailer, obviously made to make us recognize the opening of the original. Let's see what they do with it. But I'm actually more intrigued by Dumbo, which promises to be different from the original.

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

Jerry Beck has indicated that this may our final chance to show support for a classic animation release from Warner Archive. We will only get further chances if this one sells. (He said the awesome Porky Pig set just broke even, which isn't good enough. :( ) So don't delay--- order NOW! :) Popeye is...

Which should make the both of us pumped, eh Rand?

So many reasons to be pumped. :)

Re: Grinch 2018 First Look at Cindy Lou

Might be the first Illumination title that I let pass me by... (...You actually SAW "The Lorax"?? ) Why? Were we not supposed to? ;) The Grinch does feel wholly unnecessary. I can't say I'm too jazzed to see it. The Carrey/Howard version was already enough to put me off of seeing ...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Oh my gosh! I finally discovered what that old show was that freaked me out so much as a little kid! Turns out it's a British serial, that was shown on the Canadian Saturday morning program Peanuts and Popcorn in the mid-1970s. I have been trying to remember the name of it for years. It's Chico the ...
