Re: Prelude to Axanar leads to Blu ray/DVD release

I'm not crazy about Citizen Kane, either... We're done here. ;) Uh-uh... I learned a long time ago to think outside of a textbook DESPITE what my college professors tried to do to me. There are maybe 2-3 teachers that I've had in my entire life that I thought were actually good! Do you know why?!?!...

Re: John Lasseter predicts that iPhones will change nature of filmmaking

Uh... They've been doing this for a couple of years. Where has JL been?!?!? How many videos/minimovies are shot on ANYBODY'S smartphones, period? (There are a LOT more smartphones from other companies besides Apple. I have an Android myself. They're NOT much different than the iPhone to be honest!) ...

Re: Prelude to Axanar leads to Blu ray/DVD release

Sterile doesn't begin to describe ST:TMP... Visually great-looking film but the last thing I wanted to sit through was a 2-hour exercise in the Kolinahr discipline. It's wonderful if you're a fan of the Enterprise and machines in general not so much if the characters and interplay are what you appre...

Re: Ultra HD Blu ray

They announced the specs for UD Blu ray and the licensing for the players begins this summer... http://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/051215_1130 Problem is this => "The problem with Ultra HD Blu-ray is one of messaging. And right now, the major Hollywood studios are sending out a real...

Re: Prelude to Axanar leads to Blu ray/DVD release

Thought it'd be more appropriate to post this here instead of the RIP, Nimoy thread since this talks about the ORIGINAL Star Trek TV series which Axanar ties into... http://io9.com/5827581/10-things-you-probably-didnt-know-about-the-original-star-trek Nice little primer and reminder of basic Trek st...

Re: YouTube Goodness

... AND on the subject of Orson Welles. Maurice LaMarche is probably the best known Orson Welles impersonator or certainly the most-exposed because of him patterning characters after Orson on at least three animated series -- Tiny Toons (whale character), The Critic (where he played Orson Welles), a...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

I still think Batman & Robin is an awful film... It completely missed the point and on top of that the characters were horribly miscast including one of the worst Batman actors in the history of the character, George Clooney, who sleepwalked through the movie. I think only the Batman serials fro...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

This, this... Might actually be funny! http://www.newsarama.com/24411-animation-writer-brings-fun-new-bizarro-to-dc-in-june.html It's a new Bizarro comic that teams the character up with Jimmy Olsen... That might actually be the best thing they've done with Jimmy Olsen in over 30 years! And he...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Okay, Ben, I understand what you're saying about the Python movie... It's basically the same thing they've done for ages! Retread the same jokes over and over again... and, of course, there are plenty of fans who LIVE to hear this stuff said over and over again. I can't do it, honestly. There are on...

Re: RIP, Leonard Nimoy, 1931-2015

"The Enemy Within," while a very-written episode and dramatically great, is also a creepy episode to watch. That's the darkest Kirk was ever presented in Star Trek (aside from "Mirror, Mirror" where his counterpart murdered his predecessor to gain command of the Enterprise AND wa...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Wow... What a day. Wake up to hear two people who I knew from roles on TV and film have passed away... One was Grace Lee Whitney (Yeoman, Star Trek:TOS), the other was King Arthur himself from Excalibur (1981), Nigel Terry. I love that movie... It's one of my favorite fantasy films. It's definitely ...

Re: DC Universe Animated Original Movies

I think I'll wait until the Timm movie comes out... At this point in time, I'm very leery of anything DC does. It didn't happen overnight... They've been quietly sabotaging themselves for a couple of years now. At the latest, this happened when WB took more of an active interest in what DC does. New...

Re: RIP, Leonard Nimoy, 1931-2015

Yeah, I just read she passed away. She had a bit of a hard time in life. She was involved with addiction recovery groups for about half her life... That was something she got very involved with after the Star Trek TV series. She was in at least four of the Star Trek movies in her supporting role. ST...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Love the mix of the Reeve Superman with the Adam West Batman! (I think I recognize which films all the clips come from... Obviously, the first two Reeve Superman films, West's 1966 Batman movie, and probably Star Wars Episode III for the 'lava planet' clip.) Ironically, those two are the ONLY live-a...
