Re: Toy Story 4

Re: “King John” Lasseter story on the front page. I’m still quite shocked about the allegations of sexual misconduct, but one thing I’m not a bit surprised about are the stories of his bulldozing others/taking credit/being contemptuous of underlings (although the Brad Bird thing was kind of ...

Re: Isle of Dogs

Ben posted this “What if Wes Anderson did X-Men”? video on the YouTube thread a few years ago. Couldn’t help but remember it! Mind-bogglingly brilliant! Lol. :)

Re: Isle of Dogs

Saw this last week...absolutely riveting, very beautiful film. It even outdoes Mr. Fox, quite a feat. Right up there with Royal Tenenbaums in my opinion. Whimsical, sad, dreamy, hilarious, action-packed but with plenty of quieter, intimate moments. (Also the entire voice cast was outstanding . Funny...

Re: The Simpsons

Also there was that comment HW Bush made later on during a speech about American values: that families should all be: “more like the Waltons and less like the Simpsons!” I very much doubt he’d ever seen an episode, although Weinstein and Oakley said on the season 7 commentary for “Two Bad neighbors”...

Re: Avengers, Justice League and more in READY PLAYER ONE!

Just some extra thoughts on the film: The live action scenes were actually the more surreal ones, seeing “real people” only about 20% of the time and in the midst of all the (extremely well done) CGI was like looking into another world. Which it IS: both in the fictional 2045 as well as in our own 2...

Re: Toy Story 4

Here’s a pretty good rundown of all the details of this case from Variety (November issue). Not saying that they’re all true/not true but a good reference.

Official release date finally out! (June 2019) :) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5591789/Toy-Story-4-official-release-date-CONFIRMED-Pixar-Woody-Buzz-return-June-2019.html Can’t help but wonder if the recent claims of sexual harassment made against JL will have any effect on how this f...

Re: Official VIDEO GAMES discussion

Totally random video you might appreciate if you were a hard-core NES fan in the late 80s. Basically, all the gaming mistakes from the Fred Savage adventure-comedy 1989 film The Wizard. (I use the word “film” quite loosely as it was basically just a two-hour commercial for Nintendo. Lol.) :) https:/...

Re: Commodore

Interesting commercial for the Vic-20 from 1982. The weird thing was that all these early 80s advertisements always bragged how much an average person could do on a personal computer while you could basically do zilch other than play the same games you’d get on an Atari. I think it improved somewhat...

Re: The Simpsons

Yeah you definitely didn’t miss anything Rand! The only ep past season 8 that remotely reflected the sweetness/humor/wisdom of the earlier seasons was “Lisa’s Sax” (where we learned why she started playing in the first place plus got a poignant glimpse of Bart’s kindergarten days that spurred on his...

Re: The Simpsons

Very interesting interview with head writer Ian Maxtone-Graham from May 1998 in The Independent. They were right on the cusp of season 10 then, which many (not all) fans feel was the first truly unwatchable one. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/on-air-behind-every-homer-is-a-very-tal...

Yeah, same here. But Spielberg always surprises you. The movie is astonishingly brilliant and exceeded my expectations by so much.
