Re: YouTube Goodness

Dace..."Papergirl"...? ;) Vi...was quite impressed how they did kind of know most of those songs, even the earliest ones; the scores didn’t always tally with what they knew even if they couldn’t name it. Kind of does show how the reissue and remake plan does make those old films new again...

Re: J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek"

Very very interesting trivia database for every single Star Trek film/series ever made (with the exceptions of Beyond and Discovery). Definitely worth checking out. :). (Scroll down for list.) http://www.warpedfactor.com/2015/01/15-things-you-may-not-know-about-star.html (BTW I hope I’ve been postin...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Fun (but also kind of painful) Kids React vid showing how much exposure under-12 children nowadays have had to Classic Disney animated films, specifically from the 1930s to the 1960s. (Not a whole lot.). Also, I couldn’t help wondering if any of them had ever watched a Mickey, Donald or Goofy short....

Re: Article on all the Disney live action remakes of animated classics

Hate to be a Scrooge but other than the fact that they obviously make money, I just don't get these remakes. It feels exactly like that period where Disney was making sequels to all their animated classics and none of us were fans of that! Like that era, I'm hoping this will eventually come to an e...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Extremely cool modern trailer for Wrath of Khan! :) (It really does feel professional IMHO)

Also just for the heck of it here’s the original trailer from 1982. Also excellent, but very different style.

Re: Article on all the Disney live action remakes of animated classics

I think the Lion King trailer looks great (visually), the Dumbo one not so much. :?

Not trying to be a killjoy or anything, but the only thing these two trailers did for me emotionally was making me think: “Wow, I really need to re-watch those again!”

Actors who regretted—and adored—their appearance on ST TNG: https://screenrant.com/star-trek-next-generation-actors-regret-adored/ Kinda funny: :) McDowell talked about Star Trek Generations at the LA Times Hero Complex Festival, where he said that he was doing everyone a favor by silencing Shatner ...

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival

Quite interesting article on why modern animated films often display better storytelling than current live-action blockbusters: (in this case, storyboarding)

Re: Shrek reboot

My first reaction was basically  , but honestly, even though I guess it still sort of exists within the framework of Universal, I’ve lost interest in DWA since JK left with the acquisition. It’s not DreamWorks anymore and never will be. From what Ben has said, it definitely seems like the pow...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service (Disney Play)

Everything that’s known about Disney Play so far: what’s on it, what’s not on it, etc...(Still no word about whether classic shorts/films/Mickey Mouse Club etc...will make an appearance. :( )

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

I realize we’ve already debated quite a few times how every single X-movie stacks up, but I thought this was kinda interesting, if only for the fact that First Class is actually ranked ahead of DOFP and X-2*. (No offense to FC fans! I’ve seen it a considerable amount of times and always get a...

Re: J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek"

Interesting interview with Jonathan Frakes (who’s already directed several episodes of Star Trek: Discovery as well as Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville) about Discovery, Orville, as well as the possibility of Quentin Tarantino directing the next Star Trek reboot film. It was apparently Abrams’ idea, wh...

Re: YouTube Goodness

I think I posted this vid years ago, but it’s just so cute! It’s basically the promos on the Batman 89 VHS, one Diet Coke commercial with Alfred/Michael Gough, plus an ad for a 900 number you have to call just to send for a catalog that you need in order to order Batman movie merchandise. Lol...

Re: Article on all the Disney live action remakes of animated classics

Just ugh. Poor Terry. :( https://screenrant.com/aladdin-movie-writer-disney-live-action-remake/ I actually used to read his blog on the business of writing for animation (and writing screenplays in general) years ago...he’s really awesome. Funny too! :). Some of his (and his writing partner T...
