Could we maybe m...

Re: Superman Actress Margot Kidder Passes Away

That’s terrible. She was such a great Lois Lane.

Noelle Neil was great too but IMHO Kidder was the best! She and Reeve worked so well together. Maybe they’ll meet in heaven now. :)

A Quiet Place

Just saw this horror film/thriller today...wow!!!!!! That was one 95% RT scary movie! (Although I sort of have mixed feelings towards M. Knight Shyamalan now, I can’t help but feel this was sort of like one of his films, but without the bad dialogue, hystrionics, and that oft-used logic-free twist e...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Absolutely incredible compilation of the emotional high points from fantasy films from the last 15 years or so...set to Sam’s speech from the end of Two Towers.

(Spoilers, obviously! :) )

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

A bit off-topic, as it refers to the comic book in 1995 (yes, Marvel actually was on the verge of going bankrupt in a year from then) but a very accurate summation of why the extended mini-series “The Age of Apocalypse”, well, rocked. I read most of the issues when they were first released and have ...

Re: Toy Story 4

This small snippet of what morale was like at WDAS was posted by Steve Hulett at the TAG blog in February of 2010, right after Princess and the Frog came out. The post is brief but pithy: the people Hulett talked to apparently said: “Morale is what it is.” Anyway, the comments that follow (164 of th...

Re: Toy Story 4

Oh, and... guess which long-running animation site they reference??? :) (And praise a whole lot!) TBF, Hill's site was THE professional-strength go-to site on the history of projects, history of parks, and what was really happening with the '05 changeover and all those (deservedly) abandoned storyb...

Re: Toy Story 4

Going back to Vi's points, the first thing one does when they take over another company is...remove all the people that could command the kind of power and respect that might undermine your authority. Hence Hahn, Menken, Keane, etc, out...and let the new empire building commence... Also Mark Dindal...

Re: Favorite 80's Cartoon?

Original promo for The Real Ghostbusters in 1986, when Slimer was bad and Peter looked much more like Bill Murray. :)

(Also, doesn’t the pink ghost at 2:00 look a lot like Bing-Bong? Lol.)

Re: “King John” Lasseter story on the front page. I’m still quite shocked about the allegations of sexual misconduct, but one thing I’m not a bit surprised about are the stories of his bulldozing others/taking credit/being contemptuous of underlings (although the Brad Bird thing was kind of ...

Ben posted this “What if Wes Anderson did X-Men”? video on the YouTube thread a few years ago. Couldn’t help but remember it! Mind-bogglingly brilliant! Lol. :)

Re: Isle of Dogs

Saw this last week...absolutely riveting, very beautiful film. It even outdoes Mr. Fox, quite a feat. Right up there with Royal Tenenbaums in my opinion. Whimsical, sad, dreamy, hilarious, action-packed but with plenty of quieter, intimate moments. (Also the entire voice cast was outstanding . Funny...

Re: The Simpsons

Also there was that comment HW Bush made later on during a speech about American values: that families should all be: “more like the Waltons and less like the Simpsons!” I very much doubt he’d ever seen an episode, although Weinstein and Oakley said on the season 7 commentary for “Two Bad neighbors”...

Re: Avengers, Justice League and more in READY PLAYER ONE!

Just some extra thoughts on the film: The live action scenes were actually the more surreal ones, seeing “real people” only about 20% of the time and in the midst of all the (extremely well done) CGI was like looking into another world. Which it IS: both in the fictional 2045 as well as in our own 2...
