Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

Well said, Ben . :) I have to admit, reading over the complaints in the linked review, I was like .. "dude -- do you even know what Warner Archive is all about..? " He even says that if the same collection had been released in the days of Laserdisc, that Porky 101 would've been lauded as ...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

I think the bottom line with Porky was that it’s cool we get these at all. I know some folks have to gripe, and yes it would be great to have them all restored in both content and quality (or even that black and white material is properly drained of all color-crosstalk, a basic but often overlooked ...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

Droo...that may explain things, but not in the Reeverse! ;) Eric, Szwarc was actually a half decent director who got saddled with bad scripts or low budgets. When he got something worthwhile, he could shine as well as any other director of the time, as the vastly underrated Jaws 2 shows. Now, again,...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

Supergirl, to me, feels more like it came from a decade earlier, with its new-agey tone and TV-movie style antics. There are some things to like and, like Superman III, when it gets a bit more serious (as in the trip through the Phantom Zone), it can start to get close to being really good, but then...

Re: WB Archive Collection: DVDs On Demand!

The "international cut" is the actual correct version of the film. It was original distributor TriStar who cut it down further for the US market, and as such this was never an "official" version (despite being released theatrically in the US!) owned by Warner Bros. Since this ver...

Re: Legend of the Three Caballeros Cartoon coming soon!

Walt Disney Television Animation still exists, based in Burbank I believe, but that’s mostly just always been a development office, with physical animation production taking place elsewhere. A lot of the Disney Afternoon shows were done in Japan, and DisneyToon itself was a label that fronted work d...

Re: The John Lasseter saga

Agreed on all counts. (I did give "hate" in quotes, and say "a big kid UNTIL..." though, not that this was an appropriate ongoing excuse, getting worse, as I said, as he got more powerful.) Sexual harassment is exactly that: it’s harassment. Having been on the receiving end (yes,...

Re: The John Lasseter saga

So now we all "hate" John Lasseter now, even though he really was probably just a big kid until he got too big in his own house and by then had made himself so pivotal to the place that the new owners couldn’t control him? Let’s not forget that the guy - and I can’t believe I’m defending h...

Re: Legend of the Three Caballeros Cartoon coming soon!

Of course, reruns for old TV shows and cartoons happen five days a week, so this will likely end up playing like that in the end. And if they do hold it back in the US for the streaming service then it’ll probably be dumped in one go for binge watching... :(

Re: Legend of the Three Caballeros Cartoon coming soon!

OMG...this could be the best Disney show since the original DuckTales! Loving the animation...yes, not as fluid as the 1944 film, natch, but on par with the better DTV stuff, and close to the likes of secondary features such as A Goofy Movie, and the designs are nigh-on perfect. It did make me wonde...

Re: Marvel teases power Pack Movie!

The trick would be...and the reason I suspect it keeps getting shoved back into development heck...to differentiate it significantly in tone and concept from being too close to The Incredibles.

Re: Space Jam 2 teaser coming soon?

Could just be a start of production teaser...? I’d be shocked if the film was close to being finished and ready to start showing trailer footage without any word on it being in production for the last two or so years. Also kind of disappointing that Jam 2 didn’t tackle a different sport...they could...

Re: YouTube Goodness

My initial reaction of "beautiful" was a *little* dampened when I realised that it wasn’t stop-motion, but that was still cool. The last shot was cleverly synced to the final "Batmaaaan" in a sly way, too. Nice. :)
