I just got a marketing email from The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood (Disney's local 'flagship' movie venue) for this event.
US$135.00 ticket price .. but that includes unlimited popcorn!
The show starts at 10AM .. and probably runs through at least midnight!!

Re: Harold And The Purple Crayon Live Action Movie!
I just recently saw this japanese animated short from 1957 (a mere two years after Harold and the Purple Crayon was originally published!), which is a lovely example of this 'genre'. :) Koneko no Rakugaki ("Kitten's Grafitti") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elM4m2jG9sE Here's an article with full c...

Re: The New DVD and Blu Thread
Diskotek Media continues to surprise me with their anime offerings all the time. I just bought their Blu-ray release of Puss 'N Boots Around the World (one of several sequels to Toei's Wonderful World of Puss N' Boots , which casts Pero in an 'Around the World in 80 Days' scenario). Anothe...

I was basically Tobey McGuire's character in Pleasantville, throughout the 1980s .. I watched 'Nick at Nite' like it was my job. Sometimes all nite!!

(BTW, Nickelodeon launched nationwide in 1979.) .. with mostly Canadian & UK content! I saw many many 1960s & 70s british 'Children's Film Foundation' films, in its first couple years. The 1970s sci-fi kids show The Tomorrow People was another favorite of mine. :) Nickelodeon also (where I lived in...

The first one I recall hearing reported in Japan to be Miyazaki's 'last film' was Porco Rosso .. back in 1992!!

Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe
very happy to learn The Fantastic Four MCU movie has a cast .. and I'm satisfied with the choices.
But yikes; a release date barely 17 months away..? I hope the movie's VFX crew is already in-place, and hard at work!

Iwájú: coming soon to Disney+ ..
.. kinda feels like they took the basic concept of the fictional TV show within Bolt, and fleshed it out into a full series.
.. still looks cool, and (potentially!) very fun, though!

Re: Warner+Discovery+Paramount!?
It's a bit sad, because Paramount is the oldest continuously-operating studio in the L.A. area; founded in 1912.
This sounds like we may see the end of that, soon.

Re: Gulliver's Travels coming to Blu-ray! (Fleischer)
?? I have a Thunderbean disc of Hoppity Goes To Town , which I received last year. I definitely think it was one of their 'unofficial' disc releases, though. 8) My only disappointment with that 'unofficial' TB disc is that the Paramount main title is scanned from a 'noticeably-lower-quality' source ...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+
As a slight disclaimer, I enjoyed the first season of Loki , overall. IMO, this second season is a bit of a mixed bag .. in that it seems to simultaneously feel a bit lower-budget than the first (it certainly has a tighter story scope, and smaller cast) .. even as it challenges the viewer to ...

Re: "Inanimation"
deleted; I don't think the suggestions I'd just made would fit exactly what you're looking for, after all. -_-
Just so this isn't a completely useless post, I will suggest Betty Boop's Museum (1932) .. even though I realize that's not a midcentury short. ^^;
