Re: YouTube Goodness

Well, here it is. The extremely hard to find full trailer for Mulan which Disney never included in any of its DVD releases. I saw this in theaters before Paulie as a kid and was pretty blown away by how "serious" it was. Interesting that the trailer has no Mushu or any of the film's jokes ...

Re: Grinch 2018 First Look at Cindy Lou

Horton is the only Seuss film to not feel "stretched out" so far, and feels quite organic as a movie on its own. And I say this as someone who was more or less a fan of The Lorax . Can't say if Grinch will be good or not until I see it, but the animation looks incredibly slick and sharp, ...

Re: Shrek reboot

For the time being, DreamWorks is still making movies, but I suspect Eric knows this...

Also for the record, there hasn't been a "cheap" Terminator movie since the actually quite low-budget original.

Re: Toy Story 4

I very much liked the more "comfort food" quality of the Toy Story shorts and TV specials, though. They had been through their own form of Hell (almost literally as they all nearly died in an inferno) in Toy Story 3, so I rather enjoyed the more "relaxed" nature of the post-TS3 s...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

Because they are still X-Men films with X-Men characters in them, even though they more or less exist in "their own universe."

Re: Grinch 2018 First Look at Cindy Lou

I don't think those toys are coming to the states. But it also makes sense not feature Cindy prominently in the marketing, especially since she wasn't as major a character in the original book or special as she was in the Howard film. (Pretty sure we have a Grinch thread somewhere , BTW, but I could...

Re: J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek"

The Orville is quite fun, and I recommend it to every Trek fan. It doesn't necessarily reach the heights of Galaxy Quest, but it's definitely knit from the same affectionate cloth.

Re: "Wreck-It Ralph"

Yes, this is Disney playing nice at the end of the day, but it sounds like it would've been a very tame joke...

Re: AV XV: Views at 15

I used to visit AM every freaking day (I was an addict). I don't think they had a forum, but I could be wrong.

Also, wasn't the old DVD review site you guys had (which I was never a part of) called DVD Toons or something? I'd read the reviews there but was never a writer.

Re: Laika

Interesting hearing the news about Will Vinton. On the commentary track, Knight talks as though he "created" Laika, when in fact it was Vinton's company, albeit heavily rebranded. As an aside, Will Vinton's Claymation Christmas is a truly underrated piece of animation, with some beautiful ...

Re: Laika

Speaking of your review, going from the audio commentary I recently gave a listen to, apparently The Moon King was meant to look like Peter Cushing (and Bela Lugoisi). :)
