Re: D23 Expo 2015
Though, I'm not sure where Disney's gonna find 14 acres to put a Star Wars Land onto, in Anaheim .. short of buying-out an adjoining hotel property, or chopping Frontier Land in half, or something. Rumor has it that much of Big Thunder Ranch (which they never really knew what to do with, and most E...

Re: Gigantic
Aha, so THAT'S what happened to that rumored version of " The Giants and the Joneses " we heard someone was making about seven years ago, and disappeared way back when! Of course, the story didn't stay that way, so even though a book might be credited, we get the press release that it's "Our unique/...

Re: D23 Expo 2015
Except that Lasseter was all for Cars 2 (and presumably 3), but anyway... He was for the half of Cars 2 that he thought it was going to be, namely "Lightning races around the world, and brings his pals along as pit crew, but will his old competitiveness jeopardize all his new nice-guy friendships?"...

Re: D23 Expo 2015
.......so how do you explain CARS 3 then? A) The Apology For Cars 2, since it didn't ultimately turn out to be the Autobahn world-highway race movie that Lasseter wanted, and B)The same reason as Frozen 2 and Toy Story 4: Bob Iger wanted it. (That's how we got Cars 2.) Iger is unfortunately very se...

Re: Kung Fu Panda
I just hope they don't repeat the same elements that they've used so often now (ragtag "losers" become heroes). We've seen it in the Shreks, Monsters vs. Aliens, SharkTale, even (much as I love it) Over the Hedge. I think they literally don't know the difference anymore. It's about finding the conc...

Re: Fantastic Four
John Carter flopped because Disney lost faith and failed to market it well, but they lost faith because of the overages and the fact their hotshot Pixar director didn't know how the heck to shoot a live-action film. Once it started to slide, they wondered why they were backing a passion project and...

Re: Fantastic Four
Pretty interesting read. Obviously some of it might not be true, but I find it fascinating that Fox was actually not wanting to interfere at first (and apparently rolled their dice on Trank and ended up losing big time): That was the big thing at the time, with superhero franchises from "big" direc...

Re: Upcoming Aardman Features
And Minions and Tomorrowland... Basically, this thing got almost zero publicity in the US, and with all the reports of it opening up overseas in spring, that niche of US fans who did want to see it were completely baffled as to "When the heck does it come out? September? October? April?--Did it alre...

Re: Ant-Man
The idea of doing Infinity Wars as a two-part compares it to Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Twilight: Yes, it's rolling along, and we've got a cast of characters, but the story DOES have an end, and Warner's not going to have much luck stretching it past the point with off-topic spinoffs just to kee...

Re: Inside Out
What really surprised me about Bing Bong were the things that didn't happen with his character. (The Lotso/Stinky Pete route, I'm guessing? Yeah, I was sort of expecting some "can't let go" twist, although more naive than villainous... I think a certain prince at Arendelle has stunk up/buried that ...

I can...and I actually really like that movie, for what it is (and I know what it isn't), but it's a fun ride and just old-school enjoyable. (Assuming you mean LXG: ) One article on "overlooked" movies mentioned, "Okay, let's assume for the moment you're NOT a diehard comics-reading Alan Moore fanb...

Re: Fantastic Four
As for the comment on the Shaun thread: I'm hoping that the new Mission: Impossible manages to win the weekend over Fantfourstic. Now THERE'S a summer action movie. MI has gotten some surprise good reviews, but in the bigger picture, we don't want Fox having anyone more plausible to blame if Fantast...

Re: Inside Out
Let's see...it involved a character that rhymes with Ding Dong.... Ah, got in too late. (It's not the utter obsessive one-scene preoccupation critics and gushy grownups have with Jessie's Song, Ellie's Montage or the Furnace, but they're just sort of used to putting all their eggs in one basket for...

Re: Upcoming Aardman Features
For Aardman fans (and speaking as someone who's owned Wallace and Gromit films since the VHS days), it feels like a mystery as to why they aren't being fought over by big studios. But it may be just as well, in some ways. That was pretty much answered by their time at Dreamworks: Dreamworks wanted ...
