Any chance for either Incredibles or Shrek 2 to get a Best Picture nomination? IMO it's POSSIBLE. Shrek 2 got so many great reviews, plus it made tons and tons of money. Incredibles will no doubt do the same. They will both be very popular movies, and very popular movies often get nominated. Plus, I...

"I totally agree with Ben. Everyone kneels at the least little thing Pixar does, and criticizes Disney and DreamWorks left and right. I will admit that Pixar's previous films have been excellent. However, Pixar could announce that they are making Paint Drying: The Movie!, starring Bob Saget and Vani...

DW/Pixar
How do you know this is true? It could be the other way around. After all, SharkTale was in development before Nemo.CoryMitchell wrote:Ripping off Pixar again. The tradition continues.

Also I totally agree with what Ben said about believable/non-believable worlds. It can't just be cute or funny, but (at least) remotely plausible from a logic point of view. If the cars are like people then how can people ride in them? How can the cars have an impact on the plot when it's the people...

Pixar/cars
Just saw this at the site link, and not that impressed. This is the first Pixar film that doesn't exist in a "believable" world. I mean, the Toy Stories had moving toys in an everday world, Bug's Life had insects in an everyday world, Monsters were imaginary characters that lived in THEIR everyday ...

Animation is looked on as a sub lower class film genre. Every other film technique can go over 90 minutes without any complain save animation. There is nothing wrong with an animated film running over 90 minutes if it takes longer to tell the story. Atlantis and Prince of Egypt are both films that ...

The Incredibles is the first traditional animated film of it's length that has a story. The Incredibles isn't "traditional" - it's CGI! ;) I have to say that, whatever you think, Fantasia IS counted by all and sundry as an animated film, albeit an anthology one, but it is the longest out there. I a...

Amazing Stories
BTW in the first Amazing Stories movie (produced by Steven Spielberg back in the 80's) there is a segment called "Ghost Train" (or possibly "Grandpa's Ghost") about a train that takes lost souls to heaven. I'm pretty sure Robert Zemeckis directed this, although I could be wrong. Actually Amaz...

length
Leonard Maltin (movie critic) has a real hang-up about length, even with films he likes he has to mention that they are "dragged out" or "overlong." But he's loved and I mean LOVED everything Pixar's done so far, so I'm sure Incredibles' length won't bother him. Personally I have nothing agai...

Traditional
But sometimes "old" becomes "new" again. People said black and white was dead (not that it's in the same category) and directors kept making films in black and white, and still do. (Schindler's List, American History X, etc...) And Disney certainly cleans up with re-releases of Aladdin, Lion King, S...

Oh and personally, I liked Tom Hanks' character, but the little boy looks awful. Also, I don't know if this is true or not, but does Santa turn out to be this evil-Nazi-like guy in the film????? I read it on AICN. He turns out to be the villain!

:?: If this film does really, really badly, if people have a just plain awful reaction to it, could it spark a return to traditional animation? :P Just possibly? Audiences might be like: "All right, enough is enough with CGI. Let's see something else." This could mark a shift back to 2d films, fairy...

I noticed, and I wondered where you were. I figured you just hadn't gotten around to signing up again yet. Glad you're back.  I think the villain in Incredibles looks really cool and is actually kind of scary. Especially his laugh. This film looks like it has its warm as well as frighte...
