An H-B cartoon which I watched as a kid, but which (AFAIK) hasn't aired on Boomerang (or much of anywhere else, since) .. is Jeannie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaqmvqIUjJY .. which was basically the animated series version of I Dream of Jeannie , though with several differences (a 'teen-aged' ...

Swat Kats airs regularly on Boomerang .. right around midnight, IIRC. I haven't seen Pirates of Darkwater on Boomerang, but that doesn't mean they don't show it; my TV viewing is pretty 'sporadic' (the last thing I generally want to do after sitting in front of a computer screen all day, is to sit ...

:?: July to December is a long wait for a video release..? I remember when it could be a couple of years before you'd see the video of a movie in stores. (who am I kidding .. I remember the days when, if you missed a movie in the theater or on TV, you were 'out-of-luck' -- unless it happened to be r...

I personally have long considered Song of the South to be a Disney animated 'feature', despite its not being included on the 'official' list; since, as James noted, So Dear to My Heart (which also has several live-action sequences) was once on the 'canon' list -- so, if it merited inclusion, SotS ce...

That's why I'd stopped .. I was like, "Hey, I'm not the one writing an essay, here!" Though, when I was in a film studies class in college (20 years ago  ), I wrote a 79-page essay on the film career of Charlie Chaplin. For three months, I watched every Chaplin movie and read every Chapl...

The scene in I'm Gonna Git You Sucka in which Isaac Hayes puts a gun into every conceivable pocket (because "You can never have enough") -- only to slip on a bullet casing and fall to the ground, simultaneously setting-off every gun on his person -- never fails to make me laugh and laugh. Beca...

Some anime titles I'd recommend: http://yafh.com/image/d92edd6c-A-N_Honneamise.jpg Wings of Honneamise ( aka Royal Space Force ) On a basic level, this is The Right Stuff set on another planet; the story of a post-industrial society's first steps into space. Only, on this world, man has been trying ...

This movie looks so cool. That little cockroach guy reminds me of "The Fly", is that possibly a little homage to classic monster movies? The whole movie is an 'homage' to 1950's sci-fi/monster movies: Dr. Cockroach, PhD ≈ The Fly Missing Link ≈ The Creature from the Black Lagoon B.O.B. ≈ The Blob G...

I've never understood why cable TV channels feel a constant need to 'reinvent' their programming every few years. It's like they're afraid that if they show too much of 'the same old' programming, that audiences will tune them out, stop watching, or whatever. Meanwhile, most radio stations th...

Coooool! Hey There, It's Yogi Bear! :D I had already gotten The Man Called Flintstone a couple years ago from Canada (which is technically part of North America, right?) .. but I guess it was 'worth the wait' for the USA in order to get HTIYB , too! It's too bad the cover art doesn't evoke th...

Chilmark makes (made?) some pretty nice-looking pewter figurines of the 'pie-eyed' Mickey and Minnie .. in a variety of sizes and price-points. I think I paid about US$60 apiece for the 3-inch Mickey/Minnie pewter figurines I have (but I've had them for about 20 years; so I dunno what they go for, t...

The tilt-down from the star to reveal New Orleans brought to mind Pinocchio , with a just dash of Ratatouille . I think all of these visual 'cues' (including the aforementioned Peter Pan , Lady and the Tramp and Aladdin ) are deliberate. And a very good thing . It's great to see a trailer for a Disn...

Can you comment on the quality, Droo? The shows look pretty nice! Not super -'pristine', or anything .. but at least, I haven't seen any of the DVNR or 'artifacting' that has plagued a few of the H-B DVD sets .. And it's great fun to watch 'em again. :) I was in college when this show began airing ...

Tiny Toon Adventures is no longer (rumor) .. it's in stores today! :D I've had it playing on my desk most of the evening. My 'taped-off-the-air' cassettes from 15+ years ago (at least, the ones containing the first 35 episodes) can finally be retired! Major, major thanks to Warner Bros for finally ...

I heard they'd shut down some of the rides at Disneyland for inspection after the earthquake this morning .. hopefully, that didn't spoil any of your fun! :o That was the strongest one we've had around L.A. in several years .. but it was actually (and thankfully) quite minor, as earthquakes go. Ju-u...
