Re: Henry Selick leaves Laika

According to Variety , Henry Selick has struck an exclusive long-term deal to make stop-motion features for Disney/Pixar. In the report, I found this quote particularly noteworthy: "I'll quote Dick Cook right after ' James and the Giant Peach ' was finished. He said, 'We don't believe this is a viab...

Re: Toy Story 3

Today, Disney screened Toy Story 3 at ShoWest in Las Vegas. Here are the first reviews: [...]just as funny, sweet, adventurous, sad and goofy as the previous Toy Story movies. Toy Story 3 takes many big risks, and twists your heart around as much as Wall-E and Up , but at times it felt far safer tha...

Re: Toy Story 3

Regarding Ken in Toy Story 3 , I was shocked to learn an actual Ken doll - Animal Lovin' Ken - was its inspiration. In an interview with MomLogic.com , director Lee Unkrich explained: We were happy that Mattel was okay with us going with that. At first they wanted us to use whatever their current Ke...

For the most part, I'm happy with the nominations. But I wish 500 Days of Summer had been nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

Disney usually releases a big family title to home video in late March. I imagine A Christmas Carol won't be released until closer to Christmas 2010. Hence, I think The Princess and the Frog will be released in March.

There is only one explanation. The Academy loves awful music. Why else would they award that awful music from Slumdog Millionaire and the likes of Eminem? In my opinion, 'Jai Ho' and 'Lose Yourself' are masterpieces compared to 'Hard Out Here for a Pimp.' I'm still confused about that win. Let's ho...

The score for The Princess and the Frog has been ruled ineligible for Oscar consideration, reports Nikki Finke . Can someone please explain to me what the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has against music? It seems that whenever the rules tighten, the move usually concerns a music catego...

If I remember correctly, Fantasia 2000 was initially released only in IMAX, back when there were much fewer IMAX theaters. When the film finally reached regular theaters, public interest in it had diminished. Still, during its IMAX run, I think Fantasia 2000 's box office gross was considerably more...

Prince Charming in Cinderella III: A Twist in Time

From a song in an animated film:

"Out where the fearless get the shudders,/Justice is here, and it's wearin' udders!”

Considering the PGA nominations, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs may not be nominated either, with 9 taking its place. (Despite the PGA snub, though, I still think Cloudy will be nominated for an Oscar.)
