Re: Zootopia

As a teaser, this one isn't as memorable or funny as the ones for Frozen and Big Hero 6, but I am still interested to see more from it. One thing about Pixar/WDFA is that they CAN think in terms of dialogue-free Pixar shorts, and at least knows how to give us out-of-context humor like the Frozen an...

Re: Zootopia

By the end of it I just felt like we hadn't moved on from Chicken Little after all... http://youtu.be/g9lmhBYB11U I was dreading it with full facepalm from the first description (or at least was worried that someone had tried jumpstarting "Wild Life"), and it's really got its work cut out for it ma...

Re: Now FANTASIA going live-action, TANGLED comes to TV

I had hoped that the shutting down of Direct-to-DVD sequels would extend to TV shows as well, but ho-hum Thought the Lasseter Treaty only extended as far as any direct story sequelizations claiming to be actual "movies"--or even shown in theaters, like Return to Neverland and Jungle Book 2 after th...

Re: Will Disney buy DWA?

Dang! Jason Reitman? Correct me if I'm wrong, but outside of Zemeckis and Spielberg's forays into motion capture And Zack Snyder's and George Miller's, who everyone (including me) tends to forget. Even so, the idea of "Wow, we got the director of Juno to do our CGI movie!" sounds an awful lot like ...

Re: Now FANTASIA going live-action, TANGLED comes to TV

THR is reporting that Fantasia's Night On Bald Mountain sequence is to form the basis for a live-action film... Yeah, that's what they said about Nic Cage in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". (In which we get two completely isolated minutes of "Uh...oh yeah, there's some brooms, too!" inserted out of th...

Re: The Good Dinosaur

Still, seems like they're rushing it just to save face for lost production time...Do they have anything for summer '16? Thought one of the things that sank Treasure Planet in '02 was that we were still so busy gushing over Lilo & Stitch six months earlier, most of us didn't know Disney had another m...

Re: Tomorrowland

Yes, definitely for another thread. Like, "Not this one". :P I'm sure you liked the movie enough to play favorite-movie-martyr and say "It was too GOOD for the dumb ol' audience!", when OTOH, I'm still going with the theory that the movie wasn't good enough for the "Brad Bird goes to 60's Disneyland...

Re: Tomorrowland

Again, it's the Princess/Frog myth that the #1 movie this week made "only" $40M when nobody was going to the theaters, but Memorial Day weekend?? (Or can it be that the once powerhouse Memorial Day since the days of the first Star Wars now has us "movied out" by the end of May, now that we've been t...

Re: Tomorrowland

Sorry, missed that--That'll teach me to skim over 15 paragraphs. :P

But yeah, not the best sign when the setup leads the audience to write better movies in their imagination than the screenwriter delivers--It definitely sounds like a patch-up of the previous stories, although not too bad a one.

Re: Tomorrowland

Well, looks like I lost that bet-- Although the project was constantly being redrafted (it never became the World's Fair story until they published that viral "1952" photo), from the hints being dropped by the Optimist game and record--"We've got secrets in our icebox...Secrets that can help extend ...

Re: Inside Out

There was a disaster? There was a debate over just why this year's Oscar ceremony was the most disastrously low-rated in years: Of course, the knee-jerk "It's too long, we need an edgier host, no Sound of Music numbers, etc." folks spoke up without having seen it, but the chairman did go on record ...

Re: Jurassic World

I've said before here somewhere that I think this film surreptitiously forgets the last two movies and will play as a direct sequel to the first Jurassic Park. That's not to say the events in Lost World and III didn't happen, but the vibe from the beginning has been, for me, that this picks up year...

Re: Jurassic World

I've surprisingly no worries with that...I think Spielberg has said and done anything and everything he wanted to say and do on dinosaur pictures about half way through The Lost World, so I'm anticipating a new take on the property by fresher eyes. The last thing we wanted was Jurassic Park And The...
