Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Sadly, I think Snyder's one kid-friendly film took the sad road of the Happy Feet films and Robert Rodriguez's kid films--there's material just for kids and material just for adults, but they don't blend well. Of course, I didn't think these films were very good to begin with. I actually liked Spee...

Re: ACLU Wants Federal Investigation Into Hollywood Gender Bias Against Women

There's no "bias" against female directors: We gave you every chance. We gave Kathy Bigelow an Oscar. We made Jennifer Lee a billionaire for life.
We even took Penny Marshall seriously. And how did you repay us?--"A League of Their Own".

...FINE. See if we do you any more favors again. :x

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

(And, presumably, no explanation of how Rogue got the psychic-time-travel powers EITHER.
Would it have killed them to cast a Forge? Danny Trejo, maybe?)

Re: YouTube Goodness

Orson tried to go into TV in the 50's (with the same "collage" style that he later refined into F For Fake), but by the 70's, he was just doing voiceovers, wine commercials, Q&A appearances, and showing off a few of his old magic tricks. In his intro to a 70's PBS silent-movie series, ask yourself: ...

Re: Avengers 2 Age of Ultron

This contrasts with DC's "director-driven" approach. Which could be cool if their major director weren't Zack Snyder. Of course, "director-driven" could just be another way of saying they don't really have a game plan. Or another way of saying that Warner will hitch their wagon to the cult value of...

Re: Official Star Wars Thread

I'm curious as to just what films the Star Wars trailers have been attached to. I thought Avengers 2 would have been a prime candidate--wouldn't Disney want to promote their own film? It certainly would have made more sense to show the Star Wars trailer than the trailer to that Vin Diesel witch hun...

Re: Avengers 2 Age of Ultron

As for Ultron, finally saw it, now that the crowds have died down, and, err.....yeah, you're right, it's a downer, but at least they didn't drop most of the balls. Was worried about "He's fast and she's weird" for a while, but once they finally got Wanda on the team, they got back to her core powers...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Columbia - not Sony as they weren't in the picture yet, tisk tisk - didn't give it a wide release, but it was issued in the US and has also been attributed for kicking off the Python craze in America, so that by the time of their Hollywood Bowl concert (which also used filmed sequences from ANFSCD)...

Re: YouTube Goodness

(It's not actually a clip movie.) :) True, judges have to concede the point--Restaged sketches do not constitute "clips". (Even though Sony refused to release it in the US, because the series hadn't aired yet, nobody back then knew what an Upper Class Twit was, and the studio thought the movie was ...

Re: Avengers 2 Age of Ultron

They mention the Burton Batmans, which spent their money--an unheard-of mind-blowing $40M budget!!--on cavernous big sets, and it still feels like a more "real" universe than the entire destruction of NYC in the first Avengers. (Which only left a bad taste in my mouth for reminding me of the entire ...

Re: YouTube Goodness

Disney/Pixar's X-wings -- the next LOGICAL spin-off of the Star Wars movies! (Y'know, if Planes 1&2 have to suffer any more fan public-stonings for the sins-of-the-father Cars 2, they're going to have to change their names and move to South America... :( ) Here's something fun...retro stylee! Yep, ...

Re: Fantastic Four

Assuming Ben is referring to the Star Wars spinoff, that's not happening now. As much as I adored Chronicle, I have a hunch that Trank isn't the easiest guy to work with, and Disney just wanted to avoid the drama. And this may be early symptoms that the whole "Universe of SW spinoffs" may be bleedi...

Re: Will Disney buy DWA?

After all, "Disk sales are dead", aren't they , Jeffrey? (Love how they make a pointed point of saying that JK "steered clear of his trademark grand pronouncements about the state of Hollywood", though. How well they know him!) ;) Whew, they finally caught on to Alibi Ike! I can remember the...
