Wow, terrific.
But, poor Porco Rosso always seems to get the shaft (unless I missed it and it is there).

Re: Oscars 2010
They've just changed the Animated Feature rules again (and the number of nominees in Best Picture has also been changed somewhat): http://www.oscars.org/press/pressreleases/2011/20110614a.html In the animated feature film category, the need for the Board to vote to “activate” the category each year ...

How do you feel about the treatment of the Furious Five in these films? While I understand it's Po's story, they just seem to fade into the background at times. Admittedly, they do develop Tigress a tad more here, but the other four are still minor characters. Seriously, what's the point of getting ...

This is somewhat related, so I will ask here. I'm a little confused at the front page headline, especially since the link goes to a press release written in 2010. I mean, isn't that old news? In regards to Happy Feet in comparison to Tintin and The Polar Express, I feel it does count as an animated ...

Just got back from Kung Fu Panda 2. Liked it even more than the first. I especially liked Po's personal journey and the sequences that were done in traditional and even paper-puppet styles (Not sure if that's the right term for it. Think "Prince Ahmed"). I also found it funnier. Excellent kung-fu ac...

Re:
You mean, a few months, right? Or did you get invited to a preview screening?
Anyway, considering Christian Bale can go from looking scrawny in The Fighter to becoming buff again for The Dark Knight Rises, Hemsworth's added muscles seem realistic to me.

Sorry to double-post, but here's an interesting article regarding Tintin's category placement: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/awards/2011/05/for-oscar-purposes-is-spielbergs-tintin-animated.html Apparently, Spielberg considers it to be an animated film, but I'm still waiting for an official quote f...

I actually agree with the Academy's assessment. I don't consider motion-capture to be a form of animation, since they're simply just tracing over the actor's movements and facial expressions. It's also why I'm hesitant to even call something like American Pop animation. How much animation did Ralph ...

Re:
I can't wait for Christmas! :) Well, in your case, you (and the rest of Europe) will only have to wait until October. Anyway, as a fan of both Tintin and Spielberg, I'm very excited and it looks like there's Uncanny Valley to be found here, not that I was worried about that. This is WETA we're talk...
