It was announced a while back. From what I gather, it's with Mark Wahlberg starring alongside a profane teddy bear (voiced by McFarlane, naturally) from his childhood.

Actually, it's not out of the question for Despicable Me to have gotten it. After all, it was nominated for the Producer's Guild Award and it was an extremely well-received film by both critics and the public.

I do think Tangled would have gotten that fourth slot, though.

The highlight of the Tonys was easily the South Park guys winning Best Musical.

Hhm, I've read Scott Pilgrim and it looked like a comic to me. But, if you want to get technical, it can be more accurately described as a graphic novel. Doesn't make it any less comic booky, in my opinion.

I think they may have reversed the Gollum decision recently. I remember James Cameron pushing hard for Zoe Saldanha to get a best actress nomination for Avatar and I don't recall the Academy saying she couldn't.

I actually agree with the Academy's assessment. I don't consider motion-capture to be a form of animation, since they're simply just tracing over the actor's movements and facial expressions.
