Re: Inside Out

I'm in the other camp: Wall-E left me cold, I thought Nemo was their least (not "worst") good movie until Cars 2 and Brave reset the goalposts, and thought Toy Story 3 was a thin retread of 2, but this I'd put on my own shelf next to Incredibles and Monsters Inc. I might agree with the few "meanie" ...

Re: Official Star Wars Thread

If any one hasn't seen it, I highly recommend watching the documentary The People vs. George Lucas, which is currently available on Netflix last I saw. It's a great examination on the whole Star Wars fan culture from all sides. Just finished that this week: Although it does straw-man the "Fan entit...

Re: Will Disney buy DWA?

Is there any reason DreamWorks hasn't used Masters of the Universe for a feature? I mean I know a live-action movie is supposedly in the works, but that never seems to go anywhere. And that's a great property with a lot of potential for animation with a budget, which would set it apart from the ori...

Re: Live Action Jem and the holograms movie coming!

Universal attempting to create some kind of viral social media impact with a so-called "casting call". http://variety.com/2015/digital/news/universal-launches-jem-and-the-holograms-open-casting-call-on-internet-1201548325/ In the movie, Jem becomes a star on YouTube ( ), so they apparently w...

Re: Ant-Man

And geek points to anyone who noticed the significance of Garrett Morris's cameo (as the driver who hears very big hail on his car roof) Marvel and Ant-Man fans have had to put up with Morris' legacy for 35 years. (As far as I'm concerned, while several comic books have done "grim and gritty" ...

Re: Official Star Wars Thread

I had to reassure myself it was Best doing Jar Jar's voice, and not Frank Welker doing that same strangled voice he used to do on the Superfriends and Punky Brewster cartoons. (In fact, Best was supposed to get his own Saturday morning spinoff, "Jar Jar and the Pod Racers", but you can guess what ha...

Re: Disney Animaters start 2D Animated movie Kickstarter

Yeah, it's been around for.....a WHILE. Which is too bad, since it looks like "What if the Lasseter regime had done Atlantis instead, with actual heart and characters?" But, that's probably also the reason the real studio won't look at it. (And yes, nice to know someone else could spot the Something...

Re: BOO

"Completed" sounds like they've done the animation equivalent of "Principal photography", and there's just been no push to do the fine tuning-- And can't add anything to Ben's comments that they'll either A) probably exploit their Netflix connection, or B) go the Weinstein route and dump them all in...

Re: X-Men Movies Thread

What a badly written rant! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the message was lost in the awful text, as per the talkback comments... Yeah, he just complained about Singer "changing the cast" and "not doing anything fresh"-- I thought he was going to complain about DoFP's Singer taking the o...

Re: Muppets Most Wanted

(Although I tend not to count Muppet Wizard of Oz, since that was originally supposed to be a Disney TV-movie musical of The Wiz, but the trend fell through, and they had to think of some in-house way to fix it at the last minute...)

Re: Muppets Most Wanted

In the case of Most Wanted, they were counting on adult fans to show up by default and bring their kids, but didn't count on Peabody and Sherman (wrongly cited as a "bomb" by most sites) playing as strongly as it did, and even Disney's own Frozen (four months after its release!) was still playing i...

Also, I assume it's just on-set poses, as Apocalypse the same height as the other characters?....Umm, no.
But yes, Jubilee's so on-comic, it's perfect. That's the one thing good about having a TAS-raised director.

Great, now you've got me seeing it, too.

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival

I'm just saying that the 00's were like the 70's, but they weren't like the 40's.
It was only recovering from the war that gave us the 40's package features, not the public wanting to beat up the studio because of some imagined grudge against Dumbo and Bambi.

Re: Disney Renaissance 2/Disney Revival

Oh, I wasn't saying that I didn't like the films or thought personally that they were in a rut, but objectively speaking in terms of "classics", critical and audience reaction, it can't be argued that the 2000s were a dip in adulation for the Studio's films on the whole, just as the 1970s is viewed...
