With respect, Shrek The Third is by no means DreamWorks' best film, in story, animation or characters.

You may have enjoyed it most, and that's your personal taste, but it is not the Studio's best film. Not by a very long shot.

Yes, it's inherent in the chemical make up of celluloid itself. Nowadays a cinematographer has the option of a "fine grain" stock, which minimizes the "effect" of grain on the moving image. Even video formats and HD have grain...it's just not as definable. Sometimes, most recently with black and whi...

...Or a San Francisco quake?

I'd love to take a shot at this debate, but it doesn't help that the movie isn't out here for another couple of weeks at least!

Looks like I'll catch this on vacation. :)

If we're talking non-Aardman, CG-only, then Antz would be my pick too, me thinks, for all-round entertainment. I actually liked Bee Movie a lot more than some others, too, but the rest of the DWA field is harder to make up. Shrek 2, Bee Movie, Kung Fu Panda...they would be up there for me, and Over ...

As mentioned on the front page today, I sat in on three movies yesterday: Caspian, Kung Fu Panda and Hancock. Happy to talk about them more in depth, but briefly: CASPIAN - boring book, boring film. A very long boring film. PANDA - just as much fun as everyone says. Best DWA movie? Well it's the bes...

Yep...sometimes called a "digital wipe", but not to be confused with a transition effect. I think, even at the worst, these things should be done from scene to scene, even if they can't to shot to shot. More and more with current films, they are graded for later release as well as the theatrical, so...

Not that I can say "I told ya", but I would have been very surprised if Kino had not been involved with the find in the first place or done any testing on the elements before making an announcement.

That they are involved bodes well for the release of this title...certainly a "must-have"! :)

I do hope the "Disney Education" set finally sees the light of day. I also think Destino could have been a 2-disc: we have the documentary on unproduced subjects (which could still be included) as well as a possible reconstruction of what a third Fantasia might have looked like. Throw into that a do...

Thanks, Mac. :) Yep, I found the trailer and it does indeed look a little cheap! But y'know, sometimes I like to give these little films a chance, and this does look like it's different to all the other CG dross that latches on to the bandwagon, like Space Chimps, which just looks retarded from the ...

Wow - cool! Of course the dream would be for them to be able to create a hybrid version that restores the "new" footage as best as possible, much as they did with the last DVD that presented intertitles to describe "missing" scenes. Either that, or simply include a semi-restored version of this 16mm...

Interesting! I'd only vaguely been aware this was in production, but didn't realise it was so close to release. The poster looks awful (like a rip-off of something), but the actual visuals look pretty good, if a little sub-Pixar, like many things are. It would be interesting to see this as intended ...

That's a most un-user-friendly website though...many of the links are not active (at least to me) and I can't even find the right CD.

Can people pre-reserve these? Especially if we give it a little extra publicity? ;)
