That's still cheap compared to what we have to pay over here: we're about $20 per ticket and about $15 for a child rate. Plus the Imax is in the heart of the showy side of London, where they know they can slap on extra for food and drink literally because there's nowhere else to go.

Japan's ticket rates are about the same or higher than the UK.

They also generally rate what's considered a "smash hit" much lower in terms of box-office overseas because of the ridiculous ticket prices, too.

Heavens t' Betsy! With the kind of figures being mentioned how can anyone stomach the expense for such a theatrical outing -- if only considering it's nearly triple what new DVD/HD media will end up costing. I usually end up waiting for the second and third-run venues to receive their reels and even then the $2.50-3.50(USD) is given up sparingly. Oi...

Regarding the topic, though, I can't fathom worse timing if they're looking for popular support. Some of the union heads ought to look through their home catalogue and fish out a copy of "A Bridge Too Far" for reference material in plotting any sort of campaign.

What kind of actors are striking? Lord knows that the big stars make far beyond what they should.
