"The Berenstain Bears" are coming to theaters

Post by Dacey » November 3rd, 2009, 3:00 pm

Yes, you read that correctly: They are actually making "The Berenstain Bears" into a movie!

Somehow, I just can't see this working. But you never know for sure, I guess.

Wow. I don't know, but I think it's better as a cartoon. But it might work. Time will tell.

I guess The Country Bears was just not enough for some people! ;)

I haven't heard about them, but it sounds good.

I am not surprised, I knew it was gonna happen sooner or later.

The cartoon series (which my niece watched regularly for awhile) wasn't very good so I have no reason to think a movie will be any better.

The Berenstain Bears have existed as 2-D illustrations for so long, they are also getting "a slight makeover to bring it into the three-dimensional style, but we'll embrace the core design elements," Bostick says. "It'll be a slightly modern spin on their look."
Haha, I really get sick of hearing those words. Not that it can't be done, but boy have we ever had some rough and thoroughly unsettling CG conversions over the years.

I don't understand why the Berenstain Bears and humans will coexist in the 'real world.' When I was a child, I loved the books partially because I was interested in the characters' unique world. Similar to what Ben said, I think this project sounds more like Country Bears than Berenstain Bears.

Exactly. Why would they even want to repeat The Country Bears?
