DreamWorks Should Turn Back to the Bible for Its Next Big Hit
"What, like the Nativity Story? (snicker!)"
"No, I mean an animated one! Like another Prince of Egypt! They should get the original directors back again!"
"Like Simon Wells?"
"Yeah, like Simon Wells! What'd he go on to do?"
"The Time Machine remake. Oh, and Mars Needs Moms."
"Well, okay, but it was really more Brenda Chapman's movie! They should get Brenda Chapman back to do anoooo.......ooookay, I think I finally see a problem here. :? "

Brenda Chapman is back at DW directing a movie of her own (based on a children's book). Maybe after it comes out DW will go back to 2d, who knows, stranger things have happened. Brenda would be a great choice to direct Noah or something like that. I kinda doubt they'll go back to Bible films, but I'm very happy Brenda's back. :)

Actually, I keep picturing the post-Brave Chapman directing "Esther's back, and this time it's PERSONAL!"

(But basically, who else could they get nowadays? Chris Sanders, to direct "Jonah and the Big, Cute, Toothy, Grinning Whale"?)

Actually I think Sanders would be a great choice for a Bible film; Dragon had many moments of grandeur as well as deep, intimate, personal scenes. Rob Minkoff (Lion King, Peabody and Stuart Little) would be a good choice too.

I'm sorry, but Donald Duck permanently retired any animated version of Noah. :)

A spaceship?? I guess they wanted the 3D that badly, but the WABAC wasn't a cool spaceship, it was a door you walked through.

Looks cute, if a little manic. :) Looking forward to it. Also, the Italian trailer is somewhat different.

All I can think is Brian and Stewie. But that's my fault, not the trailer's. ;)

Early review? RT has had a number of them for more than a month now, Vi. :)

So far, 74% fresh, so not bad at all. :)

Is this still to come out in the States?

Darn it...we had it a little while ago here (for whatever reason) and it came and went pretty quick, despite fairly decent reviews that suggest it's enjoyable enough. Had I realized you guys hadn't got it yet I would have made more of an effort to see it and write up a review.

Instead we saw The Lego Movie. Big mistake. Nuff said.

Next week. Easter-vacation kids-rush, which DW now pins their entire year's fortune on.

(And for the Nth time, Sherman is not his freakin' "adopted son"! He's his pet boy!
"This is my boy, Sherman. Speak, Sherman." "Hello." "Good boy.")

I haven't seen the movie, I've just seen the Game (Lego Lego Movie?)
And from the cutscenes, they're just SO not getting it--The original CGI cutscenes from Lego Marvel, Star Wars, Batman, etc. were fluid CGI animation, but here, the Cloudy/Meatball producers heard "Lego movie", and thought the animation would be "Funny stop-motiony toy animation, like on Robot Chicken".

( The real Lego Marvel Heroes shorts were funnier.)
