Brenda Chapman began the project but left:

Apparently, she's back at DreamWorks directing a feature based on a children's book. Like Brave it also has a strong female protagonist. Yay! :)

Seems to me six months is nothing in an animated feature's life. Sounds like she was consulting more than being involved on a directorial level, offering some story strengthening before moving back to DWA and leaving Rydstrom (what's more interesting here is that he, late of Pixar, has apparently "left" there...or is there a tie?) to direct...

It was never really clear exactly what happened at Pixar with Brenda: none of us have all the facts, and creative differences happen all the time in Hollywood. What about John Lassetter getting tossed off of The Brave Little Toaster?

Plus, what about all the time Brenda spent at Disney proper BEFORE she first came to DW?
