Re: The Nut Job
That looks like an SNL parody of major animated movies...unfortunately, it's all to real.
I love all things cinema, from silent movies to world cinema to animated cinema to big blockbusters to documentaries and everything in between!

Re: The Nut Job
I suppose there's the slight chance that it could pull off a Hoodwinked! That movie looked awful, too, and yet most people ended up liking it.
Having said that, the odds of this being a Space Chimps are much more likely.

This one, OTOH, is Canadian, and that's usually a whole new area of bad.

Re: The Nut Job
(Nothing personal, but do they still have that movie tax-shelter that gave us all those bad Elliot Gould comedies in the 80's?
When I see something like this and then hear Canadian actors/company in it, I think "O-kayy...")

Various locales do have tax incentives or other programs to encourage film work... as do many States, of course.
Trust me, Canadians aren't generally too enthusiastic about Canuck productions either.
Of course, we do have a great history of short-form animation.

Re: The Nut Job
Finally saw the trailer at the theater, after avoiding it everywhere else by happy accident--
And am I alone in thinking that the "comedy relief" rat sidekick looks like a disturbing hybrid of Remy and Pinky?

Nope. I had the same feeling when I saw him.
What I find odd is how they're marketing this on the adult late night shows. I haven't seen any ads on ABC Family, but plenty on Comedy Central!

Re: The Nut Job
AV Review: Despite the clever title and concept, The Nut Job fails to deliver the goods on just about every level:

Re: The Nut Job
Is it sad that the thing I want to see the most in this movie now is the end credits sequence?

Nope, I'm curious too, plus I'm curious at how Liam Neeson actually approached this "role"!
You can’t just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

When I saw the trailer prior to Frozen, I could only think of how awful it looked. In retrospect, my impression of the trailer is even worse now, having seen the classy Frozen right afterward.
