Monster Trucks

Post by James » December 3rd, 2014, 10:19 pm

I'm updating the calendar and after digging into news about Monster Trucks I think I'm going to take it off for now. It's been called a live-action/CGI hybrid, but just about everything I've read makes it seem like the live action may be the main part. More like Smurfs and less like Dinosaur. Which is odd since Paramount Animation is doing it and it's directed by Chris Wedge. Anyone have any insights into this film?

Chris Wedge Ice Age Chris Wedge?

How come he's not at Blue Sky? And why would he want to helm something like this!? Maybe as it gets him into live-action filmmaking, as seems to be the thing nowadays.

Monster Trucks apparently wrapped filming this summer, so I guess they're deep into the CG post by now, but it doesn't sound particularly non-animated to me since they have an animation director and crew working on it...

I must admit I wasn't tracking this one at all, hence the surprise at Wedge's name, but it's made me a little more interested to see what it is...

Do a Google news search. Just about every article is about the live action actors or how this is going to be the next Transformers or what a huge budget it has. No one seems to be talking about it as animation. We all just assumed it based on Wedge and Paramount Animation's involvement.
