I don't expect any kids to have seen SCTV--Randall wrote:OK, i just saw the latest, the back cover...
Ed Grimley is pretty loopy. .
But this was the post-Pee-Wee days, when networks went out and licensed any character-franchising cult comics for their own iconic Saturday morning series, and Martin Short and Joe Flaherty's "Count Floyd" segments are arguably funnier than they were on SCTV, for having to adhere to a mainstream script to an audience seeing them for the first time.
Plus, any series that gets Jonathan Winters back and ad-libbing again is good stuff.
(Yes, he was even funny in that Scooby-Doo episode.)
