I work retail, and Fraggle Rock is the dvd I recommend most to parents, so I'm glad that someone will be reairing the series. If they're smart, they'll advertise the dvds during the show. If the airings do result in a bump in dvd sales, that might be enough for the movie to crawl out of development hell (at Jim Henson Productions, not Disney btw. Disney never owned the fraggles).

Actually--and as much as my own childhood hates to admit it--by today's standards, the series would probably be showing on Playhouse Disney, as there really was no such thing as "preschool cable" back in 1983.
Of course, we didn't know that back then, and FR was treated as a culty "second Muppet Show"; the cast and writers gave it a little extra effort and adults got hooked on it....Nowadays, airing next to "Sid the Science Kid" or "Johnny & the Sprites", it's hard to explain to the younger generation that no, Red does NOT look like Abby Cadabby. :)

(And Disney owns JHP's movie and character rights, they just don't own whatever disks and broadcast distribution HIT already claimed.)

Disney bought The Muppets, Eric, nothing past that.

Sounds good! Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon have both gone way downhill, but I'm hoping that The Hub will fill that void. If nothing else, the new Transformers and GI Joe shows ought to be interesting.

Having seen the first three episodes of the new My Little Pony show, I like what I see. I am not sure about the Pound Puppies reboot though. :/

Clarification of what Ben said about the Disney/Muppets deal --

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Muppets

All in black-and-white.

There's no doubt about what Disney owns now!

*******

Of course, Kermit the Frog precedes the creation of "The Muppet Show" and "Sesame Street" itself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kermit_the_Frog

Kermit was featured on Sesame Street. I saw a few of those sketches as a kid during the "Golden Age" of Sesame Street -- long before it became "The Elmo Show" and a showcase for every crackpot and knucklehead in the entertainment industry. (Knuckleheads are better showcased on something like The Muppet Show. Can we keep politics out of the kids' shows as much as possible???)

I don't think Muppets have been the same since the second Muppet movie, let alone the death of Jim Henson...
