X-Men Movies Thread
Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Wow. That's genuinely shocking if it's true!

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Wow, that is shocking, considering he was just hyping the film at Comic-Con.
Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Maybe Tatum heard that Singer was dropping out of X-Men Apocalypse to take over Gambit.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Although it should be said that just making a movie out of "the good part" from X-Men: Wolverine does not necessarily make us forget X-Men Wolverine...
Re: X-Men Movies Thread
And now Ryan Reynolds is out of Deadpool!
Re: X-Men Movies Thread
(Okay, the other good part from X-Men: Wolverine.)
Re: X-Men Movies Thread
So it would appear that Tatum has officially signed on to the Gambit film. Apparently there may have been a hiccup in contract negotiations, which may have been blown out of proportion. *shrugs*

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Sounds like he was never actually "out" then.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Nope, just a "you will be out if you don't sign for X amount of money". "Fine, then, I won't sign". "But White House Down and the Magic Mike sequel have shown you are not worth this amount, Tatum". "Well I think I am worth that amount in a Gambit movie, listen to the fans at Comic-Con, where I went to make the point of how much you need me for this role". "Okay, think what you will, but we just put out a story saying that Gambit is off". "Okay, okay, I'll sign!"
That is Hollywood.
That is Hollywood.
Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Honestly, I think Tatum's the only way this movie can actually happen. The character is popular, sure, but average moviegoers just know him as that guy who threw cards around in the Wolverine movie. Tatum is one of the closest things we have to an actual movie star now (there's no way the first MM would've opened to $40 million against the first Ted no less without him involved), and I'm still of the opinion that White House Down would've been a massive hit if the much less fun Olympus Has Fallen hadn't beaten it to the punch. Tatum will bring people in who would never go to a Gambit movie otherwise.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
I'm not so sure (see Jupiter Ascending and MM2), but I did like White House Down MUCH more than Olympus Has Fallen.
And we have plenty of stars, from Downey down. Chris Pratt is the next big thing, while Tatum is still virtually unknown internationally.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Fair enough.
Okay, I'll rephrase what I said. The movie may have not necessarily needed Tatum per se to get made. But it did need a "name," and Downey and Pratt are pretty busy with their own superhero movies right now.

Re: X-Men Movies Thread
Yep, but Tatum isn't worth what he thought he was, hence the "negotiation" hiccup. Once they set him straight on that, he got it.
Re: X-Men Movies Thread
It's official: Patrick Stewart will be in Wolverine 3:
