..... just checked TVSODVD.com---- ah, that show. Ewoks with longer tales. That's a pass for me.
That, and the fact that the lil' thumb-sucking plush monkeys were the top-selling cute tsotchkes at the time, before Troll dolls or Beanie Babies came along.
Yyyyy-ya had to be there, basically.

Also, it's nice to see all of Warner's old "banished" Busby Berkeley and Fred Astaire/RKO Archive movies come back in print, after once enjoying nice regular retail collector versions long ago in the day.
None of the ones in the photo are particularly good, compared to "42nd St.", "Footlight Parade" or "Flying Down to Rio", but they're all worth a look on Warner Instant Archive. Preferably late at night with popcorn and a cool drink, just like the old local-station late show days. 8)

They were dolls first?!?!

(Wiki search...) ....from 1974?! From Japan?! And they had an anime show too? And a French cartoon too?

Wow. I did not know that. Huh.

I have the old Busby box, which is kinda cool, but never got the Astaire and Rogers set. So hard to buy DVDs anymore when Blu does it better.

Ah yes, remember when Teen Wolf TV-series actually had to do with Michael J. Fox?

Awwwww yeah, Warner Archive!! That's the stuff:

101 Porky Pig cartoons, in chronological release order .. and even some commentaries! :D

And since Porky was the first of the major Merrie Looneys, we can hope that the following characters will be served by additional sets... :)

Obviously a shame that we'll likely not get any more Blu-ray collections, and a little annoying that many if those cartoons will repeat here (as will, I'm willing to bet, the bonus features), but it's more so frustrating that these will be DVD-Rs and no word on WB's often-offered limited amount of pressed discs for the initial run, as they have done in the past on some highly anticipated sets.

It's not absolutely ideal, but it's the best we'll get, and I'll support it in order to see the rest of the characters get their due in what hopefully turns out to be a continuing series.

According to Animation Scoop (see the paragraph directly beneath the cover art), pre-orders of Porky 101 direct from Warner Archive should be pressed discs, rather than DVD-Rs.

I dunno if the same applies to orders placed via Amazon or other retailers, though. :|

Thanks for that Scoop. I might have to preorder, then.

But yeah, quite awesome news!

I do wonder how many of these I already have, between the many LDs, DVDs, and BDs in the ol' collection. But then, who cares? Having every Porky in one set is pretty great. Actually, there are supposedly dozens of cartoons new to disc, though I wonder if they're including the ones seen only on LD. I started doing my own database of which Warner cartoons I have and where to find them, but the immense task was never completed.
