Is this just a two hour version of Planet Earth? Because every clip in that trailer looked like it was from that series!

FTA: "The first project from the new venture, slated for release on Earth Day, April 22, 2009, is titled "Earth," adapted from the popular BBC television series "Planet Earth.""

Guess so. I assumed "adapted from" meant more like "using the same idea" not just ripping out the best parts!

Remember Microcosmos?

That was the same thing, a movie-length cut down from a six-part series that originally aired. I guess this allows them to recoup on their investment (the studio did have money in Planet Earth) and get the first of their nature films out there sooner than later.

While Earl Jones is going to resonate in the narration, it's a shame Attenborough isn't still attached.
