With the movie coming out in 2009, I really think that we have no way of knowing for sure.

...or Sully, who works in the same place as John and Glen, let's not forget. Sounds like the story might be having a re-tread as well, and I know from other sources that Lasseter was at one time interested in doing a classic fairy tale in CG.

I actually don't know much about where Rapunzel is right now, other than that they've dropped the Unbraided. That's public already, as the annual report shows, so I'm not revealing anything there.
Two things:
I trust Lassiter implicitly.
