In development for years, it looks like Legendary Pictures are nearly ready to release the adaptation to the biggest PC video game series of this generation.

BlizzCon opened this year with a panel introducing the film's director Duncan Jones (Source Code), plot, and cast. The story portrays the origins of the human and orc conflict in Azeroth with emphasis on the view points of the Alliance and the Horde.

The cast features on the Alliance Travis Fimmel (Vikings) as Anduin Lothar, Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger) as King Llane Wrynn, Ben Foster (X-Men: The Last Stand) as Medivh, Ben Schnetzer (The Book Thief) as Khadgar, Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Lady Taria, and Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) as Garona.

On the Horde side there's Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Durotan, Rob Kazinsky (Pacific Rim) as Orgrim Doomhammer, Clancy Brown (Highlander) as Blackhand, and Daniel Wu (The Man with the Iron Fists) as Gul'dan.

Also in the cast are Burkely Duffield (House of Anubis), Daniel Cudmore (X-Men series), and Callum Keith Rennie (Battlestar Galactica).
