Re: Mulan (Live-action remake)

I figured those numbers were WAY too high to be accurate, especially given the almost overwhelming amount of negative press the Disney+ streaming "release" has gotten.

Re: Mulan (Live-action remake)

Until Disney releases “official” numbers, I’m taking all of this with a grain of salt.

Re: Illumination and Nintendo Team up for Animated Mario Movie!

Isn’t 2022 the year it was set to come out anyway?

Re: Mulan (Live-action remake)

We can call Mulan how NOT to handle a mega-budget $200 million would-be blockbuster: https://variety.com/2020/film/asia/disney-mulan-soft-start-china-box-office-1234766518/ But seriously, someone at Disney must've known better than to include all of those "thank yous" during the end credits. They've...

Re: Mulan (Live-action remake)

Meanwhile, in the states, the online marketing showcases people eating popcorn while watching the movie on their laptops.

Re: Mulan (Live-action remake)

I'm sad I won't get to watch it in theaters (duh!), but it also sounds from what I've heard that this is the overly politically correct, Chinese-imperialism friendly take I was afraid it would be (also the argument the producer made for why Mulan can't be in a romantic relationship with someone in a...

Re: Disney's Raya And The Last Dragon

It’s pretty apparent the recasting is being done for the same reason The Simps is: the original actress was considered “too white” for the role in the current climate we are in. That’s my guess at least, and may or may not be “fair” given the amazing work the voice cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender...

Re: Mulan (Live-action remake)

There's a reason theater owners became so openly vocal when Universal made the sudden decision about Trolls, all while claiming it would "be opening in theaters on the same day it went to VOD" when it was extremely apparent that cinemas wouldn't be open at that time (drive-ins hardly count). And at ...

Re: Trolls World Tour -- Review

Kidding aside, Poppy is neither a human nor a child, so behaving as though this doll will “encourage people to become pedophiles” is a tad...much. :? Heck, the singing Elsa and Anna dolls that came out from Hasbro last year literally had the buttons on their “chests”, and no one was freaking ...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

But, I think this is what Dacey must be getting at...? Yes, that's correct. :) Sorry for the confusion on my part. Seems I got mixed up in terms of my definitions on hi-definition. But we did, needless to say, end up choosing "the wrong time" to buy a new television (late 2003), which was frightful...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

To clarify what I said from earlier, when I say our TV was meant for HD-DVD, I mean it was specifically intended for 720p, rather than Blu-ray’s 1080hp. In fact, since our TV has no HDMI cable, we’re only able to hook a Blu-Ray player up through “cheating” with our cables and of course don’t get to ...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

Speaking for myself, our TV isn’t equipped for streaming, as it was on the losing side of the HD war (meaning it was intended for HD-DVD). And I have multiple friends with newer sets who also can’t watch Disney+ on their TVs and also watch it on their laptops since their TVs still aren’t “updated en...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

It being a D+ “only” offer means many would only be able to watch the movie on their phones or laptops...hardly ideal for a film of this budget and scale. I mean, there are probably a lot of Milan discs already made. Might make more sense to release it in that format at the price they’re asking? (Al...
