Re: What happened with Crest Animation?

At the end of the day, that’s what happens when you’re animation studio is often mistaken for toothpaste.

Seriously, though, it is too bad. Rich was extremely gracious and friendly when I got the chance to talk to him.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I’m glad to hear Rand found the epilogue fine. My only “issue” with it was the inclusion of Amber Heard, as it seems WB is perfectly fine overlooking the enormous controversy around her, but not for her ex-husband. And the reasons for that, for better or worse, probably don’t need to be expla...

Re: Enchanted

Jim Hill Media’s “reputation” (at least when it comes to his “predictions”) has proven to be sketchy at best, bombastically misinformed at worst. And he’s absolutely full of himself to boot. There’s a reason I’ve never used the guy as a news source here.

Brilliant idea, or scary beyond all reason?

Re: Enchanted

I actually feel that Shrek is to fairy tales what Incredibles is to superheroes—it’s both a parody and a tribute to the genre. In other words, I never found it nearly as mean-spirited as others seemed to, and Katzenberg may have had his beef with Disney, but it’s apparent from the commentary that th...

Re: What happened with Crest Animation?

More likely they had the cast on board before things fell apart. It can happen even on big projects. Sandler left HT4 for reasons that still haven’t been made public (but it was probably that he wanted more money). I’m just amazed there are like EIGHT A&O films. Swan Princess at least has the fanbas...

Re: Is the future of animation hopeless?

Why is Eric talking like I have some fixation on The Iron Giant when I’ve never mentioned it to him before? And Illumination is riding their “delusional” studio all the way to the bank for billions of dollars. Same with Sony. And yes, DreamWorks (which is also producing a number of more “adult” cart...
