Re: Tintin

Well, the characters do have that cartoony look about them, so I guess that should steer us out of Uncanny Valley.

I really hope so... 'Tis a scary place.

Hey, am I the only one who

Re: Oscars 2010

I haven't seen The King's Speech yet, but I'd really like to after hearing so many good things about it. I was a little disappointed that Colin Firth didn't win best actor last year (his performance in A Single Man was outstanding). Perhaps this'll be his year?? I'm a huge fan, if you can't tell. :m...

Re: Tron: Legacy

Awesome! That sounds similar to reviews I've read for the original.

Guess that means I'll like it.

Re: Tron: Legacy

Can't wait! I'm also going on Monday. :D
Hope you enjoy the film Ben. I know how much you've been looking forward to it.

Judging by the few reviews I've read so far it seems that those who really enjoyed the film did so because they didn't take it too seriously.

Re: Disney Blu-ray plans...including FANTASIA updates

Very informative review. I'm rather disappointed now, as I was actually thinking about adding this release to my new BD collection. I never really learned to appreciate Fantasia as a kid, as I considered most of it to be utterly boring. To this day I still haven't seen the entire film in one sitting...

Re: Animated Views' Best of the Decade Film List

I think this was my list. I submitted mine the other day, but I'm struggling to remember the order they were in. WALL-E Ratatouille Toy Story 3 How to Train Your Dragon The Incredibles Lilo and Stitch Tangled Fantastic Mr. Fox Spirited Away Kung Fu Panda A Town Called Panic Finding Nemo Up Waltz Wit...

Re:

And what would happen is Disney and their investors would know that the film not making it's money back was not a problem of people wanting to see it, but of how lavishly they made the film. Nope, Hollywood doesn't work that way. A box office failure is still seen as a failure. If the studio was al...

Re: Tangled (formerly Rapunzel)

Why are people running Walt's company if "he's gone", should people not care about his dream or make movies in the same vein as he made them, or at least try? 'Tis not what I meant Dust. I was saying that in the past they've been way too focused on trying to do things exactly the way he did. That's...

Nope, not the one I was thinking of. "I've Got a Dream" was the one I wasn't crazy about. :P

Re: Tangled (formerly Rapunzel)

Nice review James! I agree with pretty much everything you said. Just out of curiosity, which song was it that felt out of place?

I wonder if it's the one I'm thinking of (the only one that I didn't like).

Re: Retro-Gaming

Ah, thank you! I spent many days of my youth hanging out in arcades, but I only have a vague recollection of playing that game when I was really young. :D I was never a huge fan of beat em' ups, except for TMNT, Sunset Riders, and a few others. My favorite fighting arcade game when I was a kid was "...

Re:

This is NOT a post-Walt phenomenon. Same thing happened during his time contrary to what those who mythologize him think. It's just that during Walt's era it seems like the leadership gap was recognized faster and resolved quicker many times. I couldn't agree with this more. Walt didn't produce tho...

Re: Tangled (formerly Rapunzel)

Seriously Dust, if you define a "classic" Disney film as one that mostly sticks to the original story then NONE of the "fairy tale" films would be considered classic (not to mention the thousands of young children that would've been scarred for life from the works of The Brothers Grimm, Collodi and ...
