Re: Avengers and the MCU

And it's been killed before one episode aired! But that's okay, it's from the "not-really-MCU" Marvel Depressing TV/Streaming-verse...From the producers of a "Ghost Rider" series! Why ELSE would it be going to Hulu? Now, if they could just kill that (reportedly) goofy Disney+ "She-Hulk", or at leas...

Re: Daryl (1985 movie) Returns In TV Show!

I bet el Stevo would be up for that. But only if we get a Paramount-PD "Adventures of Tintin" series first. Also, interesting that the trailer and this new show hail from Paramount, when I remember the movie coming from Columbia Pictures back in the day. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088979/ : Prod...

That came out of nowhere.
Yeah, there are plenty of OTHER 80's Paramount titles in accessible "orphan" public-domain status at the moment to cheaply re-exploit.
But, they've already done a Clueless series...Say, does this mean we could potentially get a Young Sherlock Holmes series??

Re: Drive In Movies Making A Big Comeback!

Oh, you’re not enjoying it? They closed the danged Sealabs, and they postponed the entire Rollerball season just before the big Tokyo vs. Houston finals...Makes you want to go shoot a tree! And now Pan Am's slapped travel restrictions on the off-world colony flights, just because a few replicants t...

Re: Terminator Franchise

Skynet takes over! https://youtu.be/_Wlsd9mljiU Ohh, I thought it was going to be the old Terminator 3D ride from Universal Studios: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIoeMLwEIDM ...Su-perrr! (Which, Universal being Universal, has since been replaced by a none-too-bad Jason Bourne stage/3D ...

Re: Song of the South

I'd say that the roustabouts are VERY "tan." Though they are obviously black to me, they of course aren't slaves. The song does raise an eyebrow, though. What, that no matter how hard and long they work (with pay), they at least feel thanklessly rewarded that they're helping put on a circus for all...

Re: Song of the South

I never understood why the crows are the issue in Dumbo and not the Song of the Roustabouts. Probably because the Rousts are never ACTUALLY identified as black--Tanned, maybe, we rarely see them by daylight, and we only assume they're "Hired black labor" because they're...lower-class hired labor si...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

Yeah, swear to God: opening night, midnight show, packed theater, this one guy in the front row yelled out (when dying Alfred gets well thanks to the cure Mr. Freeze just happened to have on him): “WON’T THIS EVER END???” Entire theater erupted in laughter. :) ;) That late? I saw it on openin...

Re: The DOCTOR WHO Thread

“Night of the Doctor”: Moffatt’s tiny seven-minute jewel of an episode that featured Paul McGann as Doctor number Eight. Great narrative “bridge” that connected Classic with NuWho. (I consider McGann as part of Classic.) And of course, Classic Paul McGann's on DVD, but as a Fox movie, it's not "tec...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

. One of its best aspects was how it gave us a lot of background on Edward Nygma and why he became so obsessed with Bruce Wayne in the first place. The longer script plot would also explain why we have the Riddler's brain-drain device, and just exactly how getting a peek into Bruce Wayne's mind put...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

From everything I’ve read (which includes the 1995 paperback movie tie-in); there were actually quite a few scenes of deeper meaning and superior acting in Schumacher’s Forever (many involving Two-Face, if I’m not mistaken). As in the novel, there was DEFINITELY more of a psychological perspective ...

Re: Terminator Salvation

But hey, makes perfect sense for Sarah Connor to say "And let me guess, then you were told that a MAN from the future would save all mankind" when the MAN in question was her own son, so why wouldn't she play the gender card with resentment there? It's certainly in KEEPING with the style of ...

Re: Terminator Salvation

"Terminator 1" = he means The Terminator. So that NON anal-retentive people don't get confused about whether you're talking about the entire franchise. (Perhaps if I had said "T1", as Violet had.) It’s funny what is in the Cameron timeline and what isn’t now. When T3 was about to come out, Arnie sa...

Re: Terminator Salvation

An interesting proposal: Would Terminator 2 have faded into obscurity if not for Terminator 3? An unequivocal "YES." (Hear me out! :)) A realistic "...NnnnnNO." Terminator 1 might have faded into 80's B-movie obscurity, if T2 hadn't come along at historically the same neato period within a year of ...

Regarding the college-project story: I had a great history professor, who talked me into doing mine on Thomas Jefferson, who I learned to like for his Age of Enlightenment smarts, despite his later political faults. (The musical saying "Virginia had da slaves , mic drop!" is doing a jawdroppingly im...
