Re: Disney's Peter Pan and Wendy (Live-Action)

Wouldn't say "bland": In Barrie's play, Peter is...well, "jerk" might be too strong a term, but, being a 10-11-yo. boy, he's not particularly mindful of other people's needs and feelings, especially Wendy's, Tink's or Tiger Lily's. That's supposed to be intentional, since Barrie was sentimentally su...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

And it's got Fourth-Wall Disney Jr. Interactive Preschool Series written all over it. Still, at least Disney's teaching kids about Alice, which they sure didn't do when I was a kid. I've toyed with getting another month of Disney+, just to look up that old 80's-glory-days Disney Channel "Adventures ...

Re: Sony's Wish Dragon Trailer

At this point, I'm thinking the Pandemic has officially changed the industry's entire view of non-Disney/Pixar animated films: Yes, Universal and Warner were ready to release Trolls: World Tour and Scoob for their own studio ambitions, but if things were different, would studios TODAY still picture ...

Re: Disney's Peter Pan and Wendy (Live-Action)

Well, Barrie did generously took the time to point out WHY there are no "Lost Girls" in Neverland:
"Girls, of course, are too smart to fall out of their carriages."

Re: The NEW Muppet Movie

I will watch in anticipation and await to be surprised and delighted, but at the moment this feels more than a little laboured and Dave, for the first time, sounds old, slightly bored, and lacking much energy. Well, someone's gotta say it... Well, with Caroll Spinney now gone, Dave is the last surv...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Same here, first jab was just a sore shoulder for 48-72 hours, and Jab #2 set for just after Memorial Day. I'm not a hit-the-beach person, but we should have downtown outdoor-dining weather just by that time. With double dose jabba-dabbas-done B-a-d-d-a means "Bad", J-a-b-b-a means "Good". Oh, what ...

Re: New Disney Streaming Service: Disney+

Just watched the Maggie short and, no, I didn’t see the point. The Simpsons seems enamored of "shocking" us with the fact that Disney owns both them and Star Wars now, and considers any invocation of pop lore, in their frequent duty of providing new made-for-D+ content, as the illusion of "Biting t...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19)

No, "#2 Flu" as in, the side-effects from Jab #2--Which, Biden is now pushing, needs paid sick time from work, as a national movement. Our biggest threat now is Florida, whose governor wants to singlehandedly save the country from the "tyranny" of masks and lockdown restrictions, and is going to see...

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19)

I met some old friends who said "What, you haven't been jabbed yet?", and I protested that A) my usual health center can't do them for being a Clinic, B) the local town-sponsored center was always booked up when I checked online, C) the CVS drugstore was always sold out, and D) I was about to go bac...

Re: The "Best" of 2020

So, no, not "gay cultural-appropriation" (whatever the heck that even means!). Don't know, huh? Okay, how about that one drag-queen trailer line of "This is the gayest thing I've ever seen and we just watched Xanadu!"? Um, so would I be asking an expert if I inquired, "Just how exactly does ...

Re: Avengers and the MCU

Er...and you know it doesn’t connect to Phase 4...how? Because...it was originally MCU's second attempt to come up with a new "team" to rival Fox's X-Men, when the Inhumans didn't go over on TV? Now, of course, they DO own Fox, and minor X-characters should start showing up in the MCUs any minute. ...

Re: The "Best" of 2020

I have never seen a Nightmare On Elm Street movie. I have seen the second half of the first one a few times, and think I’ve seen some/quite a bit of what I think was the third, but that’s it. Well, 1st and 3rd, and maybe 4th if you liked 3rd, that's really all you need to see. Unless you wa...

Re: Avengers and the MCU

At the risk of being accused of being unable to grasp Eric's "irony", how on earth is it "sticking to it" for Disney to release a movie they've already made and spent millions of dollars on ? Well, given its low tracking, poor audience identification, predating the Fox deal, and its having no role ...

Re: Avengers and the MCU

More seriously, I took it to be the resolution that Bruce had reconciled himself to after debating internally if he really was, or could be, Batman. In the end he chose that he could be both Bruce Wayne, *and* Batman, forever*. "Choosing", as in, the whole abandoned subplot where Nicole Kidman's ps...

Re: The Black Cauldron

Well, they're the same from the Gold DVD, back when they stopped being bare-bones, and started including animated menus and shorts.
I remember it being one of the few places where I knew where to find "Trick or Treat" every Halloween when I needed it.
