Re: Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Live-Action)

(Er, you were talking about the sudden inexplicable thread-bump/swerve to West Side Story, right, and not Snow White?
I can't imagine anyone thinking a live-action Disney would "lovingly redundant-copycat the original"--Cynically, maybe, for Lion King and Aladdin, but not "lovingly".)

Re: Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Live-Action)

From what I see, it's going to be the lovingly redundant copycat, except that Old Rita Moreno--who's been stumping for this one on high rotation in the publicity tours for her own memoirs--will be "the Harrison Ford" for the movie. Ie., the official holy Old Survivor from the classic original movie ...

Re: Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Live-Action)

Haha…it’s so funny what you don’t know you think you know. ;) JK wasn’t actually bothered about stage shows — that was Tom Schumacher — but was, you’re right, insistent on more human character stories so as to try and top B&TB. That was his goal, hence The Ten Commandments being the first film tack...

Re: Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Live-Action)

(surely a result of JK's chasing that Best Picture Oscar; I suspect many of the more cartoony elements snuck in later) ... I love how Schwartz mentiones it has gone from the stage version, which *does* know it’s going for more of a Les Mis grown up Theatre crowd, and so can be a little more "adult"...

Re: Scooby-Doo! Theatrical animated movie just announced

I know it's Warner selling their soap, but I haven't even heard a CN fan mention Courage in TWENTY YEARS.
I don't even know if they've still been banished to Boomerang, along with Johnny Bravo.

(There weren't really two other thread-appropriate responses to Farerb's post, you know--Big Ben is Watching You.
And the Forum is not at war with Eastasia.)

Re: Pixar's Luca

Oh, I wouldn’t call it pretentiousness, but perhaps an ambitiousness. I don’t think they set out to preach, but they do push themselves and set out to reach. Still, it’s nice every now and then just to have some simple fun, like A Bug's Life, The Good Dinosaur or even Brave. Well, A Bug's Life, any...

Re: Disney's Frozen

How do you know any of this? Those female characters all exist in separate stories/universes. Isn’t just possible that they’re all unique characters too? If you're saying Raya is "different" from Moana, that's a fairly relative term. They seem to be the same character, with ethnic backstories swapp...

Unless in the preview they specifically state that the first bug preserved in amber is the one found in that mining scene. Which would be dumb…
They've DONE dumber.

In fact, that brand of Dumb is even more common today, in the age of Desperate 80's-90's Movie Iconography.

Re: Disney's Frozen

It's something that I've been thinking about but to me it seems that since RBTI we've entered a new era for Disney animation, and not a good one, I'll give Encanto a chance since Byron Howard has proven he can make competent films and I hope it won't be disappointing. I would have named Moana as th...

A bug. There were lots of them.
No, no: It's THE bug, from the Famous Iconic Scene early on in the first movie. Otherwise, what's the point?

Re: Jurassic World

Yep, no franchise is officially over and considered finale-ready until "B-but...we have to do the ORIGIN!!"

(And because we saw the park built in the first movie, that means now we have to see how the bug got in the amber.)

Re: Disney's Frozen

Stephen Schwartz wrote the songs for Wicked. The songs for Frozen were co-written by the guy who co-wrote the songs for The Book of Mormon and Avenue Q And can someone explain which moderator who doesn't live in NYC decided it was more forum-PC to change "Broadway fangirls" into "Fans"? NO: There a...
