Re: Drive In Movies Making A Big Comeback!

I keep trying to switch off this episode of The Twilight Zone, but it's not working. On the other hand, at least it's in colour.

Re: Song of the South

I'd say that the roustabouts are VERY "tan."

Though they are obviously black to me, they of course aren't slaves. The song does raise an eyebrow, though. But it's still not as bad as the "Indian" song in Peter Pan.

That is cool. Not sure when I would remember or make time to listen, but good to know.

Re: Song of the South

How wonderful to hear a sane discussion of the film by someone who knows what he is talking about. Floyd comes at it as I do, with no preconceptions about how it "must" be racist just for daring to have a black southerner in it. And he defends the Dumbo crows, too! Good going, Floyd! I also like how...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I think I possibly like Batfleck the best, overall, though we have yet to find the perfect Batman on film. I love the West Batman, but honestly, who would be scared of him? Keaton gave a great performance, but he's a smaller fella, and came off as a "scrappy little guy" ( BatCagney). Kilmer was stif...

I think Clooney could have been fine. I liked him better than Kilmer, or even Bale to be honest.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I think Clooney could have been fine. I liked him better than Kilmer, or even Bale to be honest. The campy script and direction (though I concede that Schumacher did what he understood the studio said he was supposed to do) and the overdone production design killed it.

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I can see it. Robin's origin, Carrey at his peak, Nicole Kidman. And despite attempts to make it campy, it still had a good psychological story to it. It's a flawed film, but no more so than the other ones. I only wish that there was less neon, that Robin Williams had kept the Riddler part, and that...

Re: Man of Steel, Justice League and DC MOVIES

I'd like to see it, too. The film had its moments, but it got too campy. It would be nice too see those deleted scenes found and put back in. (FYI: Batman Forever was what we saw during my first date with my wife, so it does hold special meaning for me! She fell asleep during the film, but I enjoyed...

Re: DC Animation Budget inquiry: Superman/Shazam! The Return of Black Adam

Except Superman/Shazam was much shorter, at just 25 minutes, making it about 1/3 the length of a typical DC animated movie. The technical quality was about the same, so likely figure it to be a little over a million dollars. https://animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/production-budgets-for-dc-univers...

Not sure yet what to think about Ghibli doing a CGI film. Kind of a shame.

Re: Coronavirus (Covid-19)

The mall near my office is open, but no one's shopping. The place is reportedly pretty empty, aside from the grocery store, and some stores didn't' bother to reopen. Folks are playing it safe, apparently, by shopping online or not shopping at all. Our province is pretty much reopened now, though, as...

Re: Hamilton

That's an interesting question, Bill. Even pre-Covid-19, there were very few productions of Hamilton out there (New York, London, a travelling show or two?), and the intent to produce a "full-coloured" show was clear. A place like London would not have difficulty fulfilling that requirement, assumed...
