dream on

I guess I didn't see it. I was very impressed with the trailer for it...it reminded me of "Roger and Me," the Disney version. I LOVED the little animated vignettes. It's really sad, however. It makes you think a lot. I hope it gets a lot of exposure. It is REALLY damning to the company.

Re: For Your Consideration...

I was shocked to see a "For Your Consideration: Best Animated Feature" banner for Teacher's Pet, at Hollywood Reporter's website. I figured that Disney would try to push Home on the Range more than Teacher's Pet, since it seems that most people, even the few who saw Teacher's Pet, have forgotten ab...

awesome

It would be so cool if BOTH the Incredibles and Shrek 2 got a Best Picture nom. Not since Beauty has an animated film gotten a Best Picture nod--and now TWICE. Can you imagine the rivalries that would stir up??

Dream On Silly Dreamer

I read on the General Discussions forum at Animation Nation that there is a new documentary produced called: "Dream On, Silly Dreamer." It documents the events, emotions, and reactions of the many, many hand-drawn artists who were fired from WDFA over the past few years. It is along the lines of "Th...

DW

No prob..... :wink:I think part of DW's problem is that they are still in the experimental stages and aren't totally sure of where they want to go. I like the efforts they've put out, but it seems like they're finding their way now more than before, with Madagascar and everything. It seems like comed...

Pixar

I totally agree that Pixar is strong in the story department, that's what makes their visuals so captivating--the way the story and characters are handled. But if you are the kind of person who enjoys taking a movie apart and learning about themes and texts and subtexts, Pixar just doesn't jibe. :? ...

facts

Yeah, People tend to "forget" things and rewrite history to suit their purposes. There are tons of mistakes and historical fallacies surrounding animation. Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs was NOT the first feature-length animated film produced; it was the first FULL-COLOR feature-length animated film...

Cars

The Cars trailer was trying to come off as "something different" from Pixar with all that way-cool racing car music/effects, but IMO it exhibited everything that is wrong with that company. (Every company has flaws). There's that same tired buddy relationship between the two cars and that SAME idea ...

Re: Cartoon Tolerance film

"This is an unprecedented event: for the first time characters from all of the important kids' shows came together to appear in the same video," said Christopher Cerf, I guess no one remembers that 30 minute program done in 88, 89, or 90 about drugs that featured a ton of characters from all the st...

Toy Story

The plot and execution of Toy Story 1 reminds me more of the mid-90's Disney film rather than the Pixar of today. The focus on Woody coupled with the "protagonist's dillemma" deal is more like Aladdin or Lion King rather than say, Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo is in the Pixar mold of "buddy relationshi...

Mad Magazine!!

:o In the new issue of Mad they have the Incredibles on the cover. They make fun of all the stuff going on behind the scenes with Pixar, DW, Disney, etc..on the inside. Plus they have a section with Eisner doing a powerpoint demonstration on how to improve Disney.

It is a very good issue. :P

Katzenberg

I've really enjoyed DW films over the years, and I know that Katzenberg has a lot to do with them, so I admire him...I know this is all steeped in all these political issues, but I try not to think about them. I don't think Katzenberg is on a mission to destroy animation, I'll say that much. After a...

No worries...I get your point. It's just that I've SEEN House of Mouse, where they brought back the original characters, and it's absolutely awful. The gags are dumb, the stories boring, and trust me about 75% of the "new" cartoons' plots are borrowed from the older cartoons. Mickey's Christmas migh...
