Re: X-Men Movies Thread

I know we haven’t discussed Phoenix for a while and that this is basically no surprise to anyone, but just thought I’d post an update: the movie bombed spectacularly, both critically and commercially. It not only plunged 83% on its second weekend (from 14 million to about 2 million) but racked up on...

Re: The Twilight Zone

Yeah, Midnight Sun is one of my favorites too. It still frightens me, not just because the acting is so good but that there’s such an atmosphere of dread throughout the whole ep that keeps building and building. (Plus the idea of “no more darkness” is just so freaky.) That’s really dumb of t...

Re: The Twilight Zone

That's probably because they ARE sped up-- Not exactly. One example that comes to mind is "The Howling Man". At the end when the devil would walk behind the pillars to gradually reveal his true self, that all now happens in the span of one pillar. Sloppy and pointless! Takes away from the moment. P...

Re: The Simpsons

That's nothing, try doing that with Marge scenes. Julie's voice has deteriorated so much. Most of the time she sounds alright, other times it's cringey. She makes Marge sound too old and exhausted. Especially when she cries. She's getting on though, so I try to cut her some slack. Unlike Harry who ...

Re: The Simpsons

Also, recently I did watch a couple of minutes here and there from a few episodes; and I was shocked ...because Harry Shearer really doesn’t sound a thing like Mr. Burns anymore! I’m totally serious: it was like listening to a sound-alike VO actor (possibly even worse.). So disappointing. :c...

Re: The Simpsons

Yeah...the insane thing is that The Simpsons (The Simpsons! :( ) basically became one of those unbelievably bland sitcoms it mercilessly parodied for so many years. And bad TV in general (Troy Mclure infomercials, silly TV movies, etc...). Very ironic...and almost, dare I say, heartbreaking. F...

Re: The Simpsons

Came across this story: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/simpsons-hits-all-time-low-tv-ratings-sunday-may-12-2019-1210024 Have mixed feelings. I haven’t watched the show in AGES (haven’t enjoyed anything new from them since The Movie in 2007) but the fact that their ratings are lower than...

Re: YouTube Goodness

One of my all-time favorite scenes in Who, ever. It's just so amazing when you first hear Baker's voice. He totally steals this scene! :)

(The BBC posted the clip so it's fine to share.)

Re: The DOCTOR WHO Thread

That's just so awesome about the two Troughton eps being recovered! I really hope both of them, plus the animated chapters, eventually make it to BritBox. (That's a sub service that streams Classic Who as well as other older Brit shows like Fawlty Towers, Are you Being Served, etc...) It basically h...

Re: The Lion King Remake

Definitely! :( Also, can’t help but be curious about another issue: How much of the scatological jokes involving Pumbaa did the new version bring over? I mean I realize there’s a heck a lot more leeway for that kind of humor now than there was in 1994...but seriously, with the “super-super-majestic”...

Re: YouTube Goodness

I wanna say "Sit down, you’re rockin' the boat!", but that’s from Guys And Dolls. I always get that mixed up with Music Man as it kind of feels more part of that show than G&D! I don’t have any stage experience, but I had the soundtrack to the Broadway version of Guys and Dolls in high school and l...

Re: Disney's Aladdin (Live-Action)

Yeah, but look on the bright side: this should make some great : “I can’t believe they ACTUALLY made that!” fodder decades from now (a la Star Wars Christmas Special). And yes, Rand, “inert” is the perfect way of describing this! Looks like a TV movie. Actually, it looks like one of those liv...
